ZF 5 speed
Just pulled my 5 speed, it has been jumping out of rev. Trying to pull the rear part of the case off but the shift rails seem to want to come out with it. So at this point I cant get inside. Anybody know how to pull this apart??
Or where I can find a how too on dissesembly ?

the jumping out of gear sounds like a shift fork problem,does it jump out of first also?

No. All other gears work great. I have looked at the ZF group site, and found the info you are talking about, good stuff but not enough detail to tell me how to split the thing open. ( this is the first time I,v run into this, but have only worked on older trannys in the past)

On a ZF the rear part of the case doesn't pull off. All the guts of the transmission are mounted into the rear case. You have to set the transmission up on it's back end and lift the big front case off of the rear.
There is nothing accessable from the top.
