Well, if it's valve cover gaskets that's great. If the fuel filter was replaced without bleeding the fuel manifold (schraeder valve [looks like a tire stem valve] on fuel rail) you could have damage to your fuel regulator. Cold, it would be asking for more fuel and seem to run better, hot it doesn't need the additional fuel pressure, if it part of the problem is the regulator. The next step is the O2 sensor, fouled due to overrich condition (really rough idle) and sitting too long. If the emissions system has beentoyed with, your codes could be somewhat confused as it is designed to work as a system, one part depending on another. Check you system against a schematic under the hood. Have you purchased a manual for your truck? Everybody that is going to attempt to do anything on their own should have one. Have you used any product to break down the condensation that undoubtedly formed in the tank while it sat unused? There are several good ones on the market. The first Bronco I owned had a 302 and it did just fine after installation of a cam designed for torque and headers.
