Ok i have the kit. I went to go put it on and it started raining as soon as i wanted to work on it. I looked at the firewall under the dash and the top nut on the clutch mste is recessed into the firewall. also what position is the plate supposed to go in?
The plate goes against the firewall on the inside. The big hole is for the pushrod for the master cylinder. The 90 degree bend goes towards the transmission tunnel and bolts to it.
the top bolt on the master, or the plate? You may be one of the lucky ones that has the original type master with the short studs. They had some kind of extender kit, but they also said something to the effect of replacing the master too. Wish I would have kept those instructions.
Is there another sheet added? I see some screws that don't belong. It looks like you have a more original master. Mine was replaced already. If there was a prior repair attempt, the added thickness will give you trouble. My PO had put in some big flat washers that prolonged the repair, but had gotten stuck in between the sheets that are there. I had to remove them to be able to keep the thickness down. If you can get it to thread good enough, it should be fine, but if it won't check out a new master and see if the stud looks long enough in comparison. I don't know if you can get the stud out of the master you have to be able to change it.Mine was deeper than the other, but works just fine, it did thread a bit.
My kit is still in the box since a I fabricated my own. It has the extender and directions. Let me take a look at it tonight and see I can decipher it.
