Guess what is wrong with this brake pad

I know a manager of a local automotive chain that sends me customers that can not ... afford their work. She was told she needed calipers, rotors, pads, bleeding, etc. on her 1998 Taurus. She ended up not needing calipers (perfectly fine), but, she did need rotors, pads, and the anti-rattle clips. Can you see why she needed rotors from these pictures?

The pads were on backwards!

I could here this car coming 600 feet away and having the pads on backwards sure will cause a grinding sound and bad braking.

A really good reason to only bring your car to a Ford dealer if you can not do the work yourself.

Ummm, you had me in complete agreement until this line. Yes, there are morons who are capable of screwing up a brake job this badly. But I do not agree that an incident like this is reason to claim that the dealer is the only one qualified to do a brake job (at probably $1200 or more). That's two opposite ends of the spectrum, and there is a lot of territory in between those two extremes.

I saw a mid 80's (I think) F-150 with the brake pads upside down. Somehow or another they got it all together. It sure looked strange when I removed the wheel.

Lmao That is hilarious. I think she tried to replace them the first time and messed up big time. I have never seen anything like that thanks for the laugh. I read in the paper about some guy buying a car and they used wood as pads on it and he couldnt figure out why there was a wood burning smell when he used the brakes. I have to say Ive never seen that before. I have to say the world is full of idiots.

They put wood on for brake pads to make it look like it had brake pads to the unsuspecting buyer so they could sell the car? or they put wood on because they thought it would work? either way its funny, but in a different kind of way

Man, I didn't think that you could put the pads on backwards on a Taurus.

LOL, I guess I've never been dumb enough to try it!

I've seen worse, I think right on this site.

One guy with a VW Rabbit thought painting his brake gear would look kool. It WAS really cool.

Calipers painted white, Rotors white, it was beautiful. Too bad I can't remember the link. The pictures were hillarious.

The people who sold the car to the guy put used wood for a cheap fix before they got rid of the car. Its funny because you can get some pads for 25 bucks

Yeah, dealers screw things up and rip people off just as much as small shops do. I've seen some SERIOUS screw-ups from the dealer before.

One woman bought a car and didn't get a wheel lock key with it. She took it to the dealer to get it fixed, and they didn't try and get a replacement key. They tried to air chisel the locks off and ruined all four rims. They STILL didn't get the locks off.
