Keypad Removal
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove the keypad entry piece that can be bought off ebay or from the dealer? It uses some strong double stick tape. I put it on my 1999 SD, but now I have a remote start system, so the keypad is useless.

Be sure to test any solvent somewhere where it isn't obvious, a door jamb maybe. Some stuff is sold around here called goof off. Similar name to googone, but probably not related at all. If you could buy Goof Off in gallon containers it'd be a convenient way to strip the paint off a car.

Try 3M adhesive remover, its made fo removing adhesive frome paint finishes.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS, try it in an inconspicuous place first.

Heat it with a hair dryer and use a floss doubled. If you have some sort of solvent use it at the same time. It will make it easier.

The remote start works on a different frequency than the keypad(which just sticks to the door and sends a signal like the factory keyless entry - it is not the hard wired keypad that comes from the factory). If I lock my keys in I have a spare hidden under the truck.
