ive been looking at a chip for my 97. bullydog, swamps chips...... its all becomming a blurr. have a open intake. 5" exaust turned out infront of rear wheel, hpx mod. gauges.....now just need chip. like having switch on the fly, tow alot with the truck but still want that no trailer feel like your gonna black out acceleration that makes dookiemax's eat my smoke, thinking about swamps babys or 175's one of theese days. possible propane and water/methonal also. got a 5 speed 4x4.....
I just ordered a 6 way. I'm not sure if it's available for the 97. Right now I've got a single Diablo. I've got another thread going on it. Should be in Friday. I'll post my thoughts on it. I ordered stock, fast idle, 50, 75, 100, 145.
This is a hard question to answer, so many chips to choose from. Best bet get a popular one that will program it specifically for u! Your preferences, and be able to re-program it after your make changes. We all Know price is a factor so do some shopping.
Yeh these guys do the programing, check out the sight, what I ordered is not stock program. $150. less money. I'm not telling anyone to buy anything, just giving options. Thats why I started a thread on it, so I can give an honest opinion of it and let you decide.
Well Mech I'd been shoppin' around awhile and pretty much got my heart set on one, but I know you know you So I can't what for your updaate on your new purchase! KEEP US POSTED!
I had asked the same question to "the kid" at 4 Wheel Parts the other day and he said not to go with a chip, but to get a programmer instead. The kid said that if my truck were a '99 or newer, then he would recommend getting a chip, probably a Superchip, but since my truck is a '97, he said the computer isn't "sofisticated enough" to take advantage of a well programmed chip, and that's why '97's need a programmer to be able to perform like the newer trucks.
NO !! NO !! You have a computer so do the other Psd's a chip will give you more of a preference, and power on the fly! A tuner is not a bad thing but is not tuned to you personallly. Our computer is well capable of handling a chip, and so are trucks if not more than a newer PSD. Just cause we can't make more than 60hp from a chip than 120hp for a 99+(for injector and HPOP reasons) does'n mean a chip won't do us justice! IMO better than a tuner!

Thanks for the advice! I've been wanting a flip chip anyway, just thought "the kid" might have a point.
