Ford 390 bored and honed .060 over (401.2 c.i.)
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake
Holley 600 cfm vac. secondary (going to put a Street Avenger 670 on it in the near future)
Speed-Pro forged flatop with 4 valve reliefs (don't know what my deck clearance is for sure but piston top almost came dead even with top of bore)
Fel-Pro .041 compressed thickness head gasket (composition type)
Engine has 198 to 200 p.s.i. cranking pressure with current cam and should be right at about 10.1:1 or 10.5:1
Current cam is Edelbrock Performer-Plus (which I think sucks) 194/204 duration @.050" 460/480 lift
C8AE-H and D-2TEAA heads with polished chambers, blended bowls, polished exhaust runner and took out smog bump in roof of exhaust runners (68 to 71 cc chambers)
Dynomax ceramic coated headers with 2 1/2 pipes and 18 inch glasspacks
C-6 transmission
3.50 gears
Can't decide on a different cam yet so far the ones I am looking at are the following
Crane 343941
Comp Xtreme Energy 218/224 duration @.050 .513/.520 lift
Lunati 223/223 Dur. @ .050 .514/.514 lift
Lunati 221/221 Dur @.050 .533/.533 lift
Engle 225/225 Dur. @ .050 .510/.510 lift
I can't seem to find Erson's site on their FE cams but if anyone can find them and run some comparable ones to the ones listed above, I would appreciate it. My engine also has adjustable rocker arms
just in case you can run that cam, here's the rest of the simple build.
390 0.040 over.
stock 2bbl intake.
Holley 500 cfm 2bbl (1/2" phenolic spacer... whatever that's worth?) tuned to 12.8:1 a/f.
Pistons are cast Summit specials... c/r came out to 9.5:1.
stock crank and rods, full rotating assembly balanced.
cam as above w/ recomanded springs.
C6AE-R heads milled, with blended bowls, basic port cleanup, cobra jet valves, 3 angled. ( guessing similar 68 to 71 cc chambers).
stock shaft mount rockers.
stock logs, 2-1/4" Y pipe, into single 3" exhaust.
petronics, blaster 3
and, for intrest sake, what difference would 1-3/4" dia. 27" long, headers make, with, 3" collectors and still into a single 3" exhaust?
and, thanks in advance to anyone who has the time for my nonsence.
Yes it can ping with that cam if you have the timing to high and don't run 91 octane. I can't get the timing down to where I would like with the stock dizzy (total gets to be to high) so I would need to recurve the dizzy which I may do with a new one but am leaning heavily toward a Mallory with vac. advance. I will try to get you the valve events on those cams.... Anyone find Ersons website? It should be under Mr. Gasket.com

I found the Erson cams but it doesn't have the valve events, maybe someone here knows them or can find them....
The cams I was wondering about from them are the following
part # E241021 M/P2 has the following 292/310 advertised dur. 214/226 dur. at .050 .523/.539 lift 114 degree lobe center
part # E240321 Hi-Flow AH has the following 284/284 adv. dur. 220/220 dur. @ .050 .551/.551 lift 112 degree lobe center
Both of these cams have 4 degrees advance ground into them
I sent and a question to Engle Cams and hopefully I will hear from them soon. I wish the cam of theirs that I was looking at had more lift but if we get the valve events I guess we will see what it does. I also sent some info to Lazer cams.
Lazer has 2 cams that caught my eye....
part#2700140 and 2800140
Don't know if you have the specs and valve events to these but if not I will try to call or email them for the valve events and the seat to seat specs.
I sent an email to Erson to get the valve events and the seat to seat specs on the 2 cams of theirs I was looking at.
CleanLX, here's your numbers: 270hp @ 4500rpm, and 390ft-lbs @ 3000rpm. The torque is basically flat from 2000 to 4000rpm.
With headers you're up to 322hp @ 4500rpm, and 431ft-lbs @ 2000rpm. The torque drops slowly off after that.
Wow!
Thanks a million.
I'd never of imagined headers would be such a significant gain.
431 at 2000 makes me all warm and fuzzy...
Now, where'd I put my Christmas list?

Funny, I had the 270 in it on the initial build, and, the friggin' motor ate it.
Parts store did not have anymore 270's, and, I wanted it done now dangit, so, in went the 268... Live and learn...
That was before I knew of this site... I likely would be running something one of you fella's would've recommended otherwise.
