When we were in Pittsburgh for a baseball tournament, me and 5 or 6 friends decided to go to a under 21 club. Well we are real big hicks and drive jacked up 4x4's, typical rednecks. So we go to this club and there are all of these teenage kids that think they are 2-pac shakur, typical teenagers from a city, and all the dj was palyin was rap. So me and my friends finally convince the Dj to play some ggod ol' redneck music, Thank God I Am A Country Boy. We were dancin around like good ol' rednecks, showin off our barndance moves. needless to say these kids started on us bout bein rednecks. We just told them to leave us alone and go ganbangin' or something. I thought it was absolutley hilarious though to see all of their faces when that song came on and whille they were watchin us dance. O well, If neone else has any stories, Tell All.

How did you manage to find a dj in a city that actually had 'Thank God I'm a Country Boy"? I worked with a kid who was a "DJ" and while he knew all the current hip, cool songs, he had never heard of quite a few older artists. He didn't know Pink Floyd. Didn't know Tom Petty. Nor K.I.S.S. and quite a few others. Who's Willie Nelson? WHAT???!!!! Where did this kid come from?!

HaHa, We actually had to go get the cd out of my truck, cuz we asked him to play it, and he was like......Wha? I aint nevr heard of that song, it must not be a slammin song.....I was like hold on I'll go get it out of the glove box......So thats where he got it from

Ha! I can just picture that club bumping and grinding, and then that song comes on... Everybody stops and stares in silence..with that "huh?" look on their faces! What a great mental image!!

I wish i could have seen it. i know exactly whay you mean. Im from south of pittsburgh and on occasion go to the clubs. And thats all you see is a bunch of thug wanabee's and wiggers. I am a die hard redneck. I wear a flag chain around my kneck 24-7. Whas it rock jungle?

When I was in high school I drove a 77 high boy lifted w/44" tires and such. Anyways I was dating a city girl, well she had talked me into taking her to a dance at her school. Needless to say when we arrived in my truck, everyone just stared at us the whole 5 minutes I was there. So I left, never did go back either. Come to think of it her and I didn't see much of each other after that, guess I wasn't cool enough.

I can relate to this. I'm one of the few in my school that don't listen to the jungle jive or the crap that they think is music. When ever we have dances, I dress up in my western wear and display my Southern pride with a belt buckle. And when the dj finally puts some decent music on, it gets cut short and it goes back to the same ol same ol. I don't know why people just have bad taste in music. It should be a crime to hate Good Ol' Country Music and a** kickin' Southern Rock. That's the way I see it. All us rednecks just keep on keepin on.

Seriously, though I've always admired you rednecks. You guys usually have a habit of being patriotic to your country, respect others, and stand up for your convictions. And those cowboy hats are pretty cool, too.

I'm a self proclaimed redneck that got transplanted from Central Florida to good 'ol central Connecticut (not). At first everyone said I had an accent and that it was cute, now no one says that ne more except for today. I prolly lost it due to all the time spent here. Then everyone mildly pokes fun at my truck due to the dual whips and big ford sticker, can't forget the gun racks either. And then there's the country music, well you get the drift. Even in Florida (when i wore my cowboy cut wranglers and boots, can't do that here i'd get shot) i got flack from kids who weren't, or didn't understand hicks. Many who are not proclaim to be cus they think we're cool lol, but others make fun saying our hoo hoo's can't breathe in those jeans, I just tell em mine needs support, unlike your baggy pants give lol. Plus the girls like my butt in em.

what ticks me off more than any thing, is when some thug wanna be is wearing a cowboy hat. I know that it's his choice and all, but to me it's like mixing oil and water.

Don't have any problem with redneck haters here. It's a common occurance. Our social classes include Loggers/Dairy Farmers/Cattle Ranchers/Hermits/Rednecks/Bill Gates computer geeks/Hippies/etc

I dont put down rednecks or wannabe gangsters (most of the time) but i am not a fan of either lifestyle (no offense) I am not really in any group, but if someone had to classify me it would be leaning towards skater. I dont have spike colored hair anymore so it is less obvious. But i absolutely HATE country music (once again no offense). There is just something about it that just bothers me. I do like David Allen Coe's The Rodeo Song though, funny as hell. I listen to rock and mostly punk. What can i say, i dont fit in, i am not a redneck but i love redneck trucks.
