97 ex with 4.6L Check engine light code P0171 "Lean"
I have read several threads aboutP0171 and 174 engine codes and have seen allot of good info, but I still have issues.
It all started several months ago with Fuel too rich P0172 bank one and two. The shop replaced the fuel rail regulator the check engine light was off for a week and a half. Light came back on! and engine codes were now lean P0171 bank one and two, took it back to the shop they said MAF sensor for $430. I promptly pick up the vehicle and replace that myself for $87. several days later the check engine light is now back on. I have the PVC to intake hose on order and will have that on Tuesday (although the current one looks OK) 3 months ago I replace the upper O2 sensors, and fuel filter, air filter. Strange thing is, idle is fine, towing is fine, acceleration is fine, same gas mileage. Maybe when I get the new hose the culprit is the PCV valve although is seems that it is working fine.
I am at a loss~~~ I have 118k runs and looks great if I can't fix it. --> my wife wants a new 05 expyPLEASE HELP
Just to update ~ I recieved the PVC to intake hose from the dealer with no luck 4 days later the Check Engine light is back on! I am running out of parts to replace!??? Any Ideas?
If your truck is running OK, drive it and forget about the CEL. In time, the CEL will go out. That doesn't say much for all the money you've spent trying to fix a problem that doesn't exist.
