I plugged mine in through the bottom because I didn't know if I would ruin that purple thing by prying it out or not. I was a pain in the butt getting it in through the bottom.
The purple thing is simply a small donut with three holes for the wires to go through. It's maybe 3/32 inch thick, pull it up and there's the back side of the connectors starting at you.
You can run the wires from top beside the wiring thru the purple grommet, if cut the long straight wires from another resistor and attach them to the ends of your 10k wiring. I used a little dielectric grease (or petroleum jelly) to get them to slide easier thru the grommet. They will be long enough to make contact with the connections in the ICP switch. When I tried the 10k resistor, before putting it on a switch, I simply bent the wires down and close enough together to insert them from the top as described. LOL
I think that I'm gonna re-install mine like how one of you two did it. (kwik, mueck) The way that I have mine now there is a little bit of exposed wire and I don't like that.
I know this is a old thread - I hate to beat a dead horse but I think this horse could use one or two more good HITS.
This Really works.
I just did the 5.6k mod on mine and wow is all I can say - My dually has no issues breaking the tire lose... Alote of peep in the pedal now.
I did notice a little higher idle (Maybe call it a cleaner idle) and A lobe when coming to a stop but went away once I fully stopped - nothing real bad. Nice clean shifting and everything. Thanks guys - This thread helped.
