I just got off the phone with my Ford Service Rep. He said Ford has recognized the problem on ALL the new F150's and is working on a fix. Ford has directed them not to troubleshoot to find a fix. Ford engineers are working on a flow chart to give to dealers to fix the problem. He hoped to have this by early December.
Actually it is the first time my rep has said there is a wide problem. Before he had said that only myself and another customer had complained. No he says about 10 people have brought their trucks in. The trucks vary in vibration. Ford said some vibration is normal
I also called a Ford Engineer @ the KC Assembly plant to verify. My company is a Ford supplier. I will post what I hear.
I am going to give you a view of what has happened with this truck in the 2 months that I have owned this NEW truck.
The day after I bought the truck I took it back for a vibration in the breaks and a vibration in the wheels at 30 and 75 well as I am sure all of you know the vibration in the wheels at those speeds was the tires are out of round and well the breaks well we are still on that one I also had a vibration in the rear end. Well they told me that they had to get new tires and that the rear end was bad.
So now that they have replaced the rear end and replaced the tires and rebuilt the break system that still does not work, and now the window falls off track and I smell something burning in the truck like plastic also let me add that the keypad does not work. Now remember that this truck in Two (2) months old I bought it on August 23 2004 and it is now November 9, 2004. So what do you think that I should do??? I do appreciate all the input and I will direct FORD to look at this posting also. Let me know what you think.
Thank you,
Darin

I guess I would keep going back to the dealer. My state's lemon law gives the manufacturer 4 times to try to repair. My dealer is saying they will not do anything else until they recieve this "magical flow chart" They have attempted 3 fixes: 1. vibration dampener and road force tire balance, 2. new ring and pinion gear, 3. a new driveshaft
I'm trying to verify if this is true, or if I am getting blown off. I hope my call to the Ford engineer will verify this.

My dealer is telling me the same thing I called the Ford 800# and they said the same thing just not as nice as the dealer did and when asked about getting a engineer to look at the Truck they said that it would do no good that I needed to wait DSB papers going in the mail today...

Give the phone number to the Ford Rep so I can let him know that I do not have a vibration problem. The Ford Rep is stating wrong information. Thanks.

Wrong. Some people just can't stand it I guess that some of us have ZERO problems. Look. It's a fact. When you have problems - you talk about it. I respect that. But there are many many more that have no issues with vibration.
You could probably prove it to yourself if you compared how many 04 150's the dealer has sold vs the 10 he says have come in.
I'm no defender of Ford. If I had an issue I'd be on them like white on rice. But I don't. 2 vehicles now and I couldn't be happier. Sorry for those who aren't.
So I'll say it again "ALL" trucks have the issue is WRONG. It just isn't true.
I am statng what the service advisor told me. He said it was an issue with all new body style F-150s. Maybe he meant all body styles, not just SCrews. He also stated some vibrations are more pronounced than others. If you do not feel a vibration, good for you. I will also say that I rode in a friends Screw FX4 and felt a small vibe, even though he said he never noticed it He blew it off as road vibration.
I really love the truck besides the vibe, and the rattles in the interior caused by the vibe.
I was able to talk to a Ford Engineer iat the KC Truck plant. He verified that a new TSB (flowchart) was scheduled to be at the dealers December 8th. Hopefully this will provide a solution for those with a problem

I agree with Smoove. I have no vibration problems in my truck. As a matter of fact my buddy with a 2003 GMC 1500 z71 told me he wished his truck rode half as smooth as mine does. I have also talked to about 3 or 4 different people at the gas pump who have the 04 f150 and all of them have told me that their trucks are problem free and it is the smoothest riding truck they have ever owned.
I have an 04 Lariat Screw and while I've had to have two different rattles fixed during 3 visits to the dealer, the truck is otherwise vibration free. And beleive me, after reading the same vibration posts for months I'm very aware of the potential problem. As of right now my truck has zero vibration, I just hope that continues.
I second that not all trucks have the viberation. My STX is very smooth, even compared to a car. I have driven it 1800+ miles, about half over roads that would make a mule weep. And at speeds ranging from slowest thing on the road, to up to the limiter's top.
It is true that the frame is super rigid. When my wife drops the tailgate to toss in groceries, the truck feels like a tunning fork. I don't mind, as this translates to super good handling. The Michelin tires seem to help too.
I wonder, does anyone with the Michelin tires have the tire vibration?
I still have the "cheapo" looking steel rims and the P235/70R17 Hankook tires, and I don't have the vibration. A co-worker bought a SCAB with the nicer looking wheels. He also has NO vibration. It's not because I haven't been looking, because I am a pessimist by nature. I can find nothing wrong with this durn truck. It's killin' me.

The service advisor is wrong........If you want to feel vibration check out the other brand trucks.
