Why would Ford hire Eagle Picher Automotive & Visteon if they did not have vibration problems...mmmmmmmmmm?

I gave this news release to the DSB, it was my smoking gun.

"Visteon Corporation employed the industry's first self-contained Portable NVH Dynamometer to improve noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) on the new Ford F-150."

Here is a link to see a Hunter Road Forced Balance Machine that most Ford Service Dealers are now using.

The link will not open. Can you find another way to post or describe what it states?

Thanks!

Vibration problems

Well for all of you out there i was going to put my input in. I have had the front wheel hubs and complete brake assemblies replaced twice. And I am currently in a battle with Ford because my breaks locked up going down the highway, mind you vibrations have still not gone away. There is a TSB on this problem they will fix it no questions asked but I think ford needs to look more into this problem. Especially since I’ve uncovered a more serious problem with these trucks, as so have many of you. I'll update you on my Lemon Law Battle.

Mine vibrates as well. It ranges from almost being non existent to shakeing the passenger seat as I drive. I also have the nibble at around 70mph. I have 2 dealers look at it multiple times and although it got better when the @#$ Generals were replaced, its still there and its really pissing me off. I tell you, just like many others that bought the new f150 with the vibes, if the automotive press had been alittle more honest about reporting these problems, I would have at least waited a year and not bought the 04. It now seems that the 05 and even the 06's have the problems as well. You rarely see that mentioned in the press however. It will probably continue like this until there is a class action law suit, or the Goverment gets involved. Then Ford will cry poverty and proclaim its un American to make them build a truck that doesn't vibrate. They will always have an answer to why they can't fix the problem. I think if the spent half as much time trying to fix the problem as the now do trying to convince customers that it doesn't exist, the vibration issues would have been fixed long ago. Then they could start working on all the other problems.

Persichini and Ford9c, I noticed that you are the first people to post on this thread in over a year. Having studied most of the threads related to vibration, it appears to me that the vibration issues only go away when you lube the parking brake cable. The cable enters the sleeve at the front of the wheel well, so it gets a lot of dirt and salt in it. This causes the parking brake to drag. So, when the parking brake is dragging, and you hit a bump, the ABS decides there is a wheel skidding and it starts jerking the brakes, which is what it's supposed to do. In turn, this causes intermittent vibration, causes rotors to heat and warp, wears out ball joints and rear-end parts, and probably a host of other problems if it continues for a long a time. The kinds of problems you can expect from a dragging parking brake would include poor performance, poor gas mileage, and weird transmission behavior. Most people rarely use the parking brake, so when they do, it sticks because the cable is corroded. Once it's corroded you might have to replace it, but at least lube it. On my vehicles, I ALWAYS engage the parking brake EVERY time I park. This does several things for me: It helps me keep in the habit of DISENGAGING the parking brake every time I drive. It tests the parking brake every time I drive. It helps prevent the parking brake from corroding and sticking.
FWIW, my '06 F-150 has no issues.

Well I guess I should know today because ford engineer is looking at the POS today. I personal would think that the parking cable hanging put while I applied the brakes would have nothing to do with the tires locking, but I guess if it could be the cause of the warped rotor's and the vibrations damaging, or causing a caliper to stick then that would shed some light on it...but then again my problem exist on the front breaks. I just wonder if I should bring it to the engineer's attention of wait and see.
