Right at 6000 on my '04 FX4 Supercab with no problems as of yet. Rode in my friends '04 Z71 1500 and the ride wasn't any better or worse than mine. Just the interior and roomiest of the Z71 doen't seem to compare to the F150.

The TSB is 04-3-3. Damper kit number is 4L3Z-5D008-AA. It is a 25-30 pound weight attached to the rearframe near the bumper. It looks very Jerry-rigged.

It is supposed to dissapate vibration. For my truck it was useless, but it may help in your case.

Talking Vibration

I just spoke to my service rep about the vibration around 60-65 in my 04 FX. He said that Ford will have a resolution to the problem by the end of the month. It has something to do with the new streerin. THe 05's I have been told don't have that problem. Until then, he said jsut keep the tires rotated.

Unhappy Only so many chances

It is probably true that not all of the trucks have vibes, mine was bought atthe end of oct, and the vibes were there, I didn't give it much of a test drive, my bad,However, after babying it for the break-in period, i was very gentle on the throttle, and thought that the vibes were just from break-in, after 500-550 mi,
I was a little more agressive and thats when it really reared it's ugly head, since then, two times back, once for the vibes(new drive shaft), is that a one day job?
and now waiting for rear-end parts, I hope they get it right, in Md three strikes, and here I have access to pool of circling sharks(a law firm dedicated to the lemon law, and a very sucessful one too), I just hope I don't have to use them, for I'm not a fan of lawyers(blood suckers)

my dealer told me after they had replaced the driveshaft and I still had a vibe that there was nothing else they could or would do until ford came up with a fix!

I had my driveshaft replaced in October. It did not solve the problem. My dealer won't do anything else either. I spoke to an engineer @ the Ford KC truck plant. He said a new TSB is due @ the dealers Dec. 8th.

My Experience w/04 Lariat

Hi all, My name is Chris and I'm a newbie to this forum but not to fords and other forums. My Ford stable is made up of: a exceptionally clean '69 F250 Ranger Camper Special, '92 big Bronco heavily modified, 00 Excursion 7.3, 01 'stang GT, and a 04 F150 Lariate. Some of my vehicles are on the superford registry.

We had to order the 04 F150 to get the combination we wanted. With about 1.5K on the truck I started to get the 'vibration'. The truck as been at the ford house for a week now. They have replaced the d/s and are doing a complete wheel / tire balance today. Needless to say I'm very disappointed with the unfoldings of my '04.

Has anybody had the probelm fixed? Am I waiting on a result that will not happen?

Do you have a steering wheel shimmy, or a harmonic type vibration that can be felt inside the cab? A few people have had the steering wheel shimmy fixed, by RFB or new tires. Those few people are actually lucky because there are several people who are still dealing with the steering wheel shimmy because it could not be fixed, including my self. I do not know of anybody who has gotten the "vibration" fixed. Ford has bought back some trucks because they could not fix the problems. Will Ford ever step to the plate and take care of their customers?

Question Where were the vibers built?

Could all of the trucks with bad vibes have come from the same plant, or could it be there was a batch of bad parts sent to plants all over(where ever they are built), has anybody done any research(Ford maybe) or any other orgs. maybe they could narrow the problem, instead of letting it run rampant all over, doesn't ford care thier rep is going down the tubes, just wait till somebody like O'riely, or one of the other news orgs get wind of this, not too good for buisness............

Results of Vib fix

FYI to those with the issue.

I just picked my truck. They replaced the d/s and did tire/wheel match balance. I can say the issue is greatly reduced. Prior there was visible movement in the steering wheel at 65+. that is gone and feels smooth. i may just be hyper sensitive to the issue but i can feel a slight vib at 50 - 60 but I'll give it some. as i noted i may just be hyper to the situation now.

I can see you only buy Ford. I'm sorry for that. I have a '90 Bronco that is what it is. I didn't expect a brand new 2004 Ford SuperScrew to drive worse than an truck 14 years older, but it does.

You are not hypersensitve. The issue is real. Mine has been reduced but has gotten worse. Many other problems have come to the surface too. Tranny jumps, trouble starting, rough idle, rattle in doors, etc, etc, etc. Also, you cannot drive a SuperScrew with the rear windows down!!!!!! That alone is means for a recall. The truck is completely unsafe.

Kansas City is it. According the the Ford Field Service Engineer, all the new F150's have this vibration problem. It is a "characteristic". You no longer have to go to the chiropractor. Look at the bright side. Although, the seats in this thing are more uncomfortable then my riding mower.

Well Bob from next door said the World is square....Don't blame me for what Bob is stating.

Here is my experience with the new F150. There is no vibration...
