Question Remove rear overload leaf?

Has anyone done this?
What could I expect to run into in doing this? I like the thought of possibly getting another 1/2" lower in the rear. I already have Ground Force 2" lowering shackles.

Would removing this leaf cause any unexpected handling issues?
Also, what would you expect would be my real loss in load carrying capacity? I also plan on installing a rear sway bar and would be fully willing to add airbags if needed to bolster my load handling.

I dunno, just batting this idea around. What do you all think?

ps - 2004 Lariat SCab, 6 1/2' bed, 36 gallon fuel tank. Plan on going 20"-22" wheels when my original tires wear out.

ok, don't EVEN tell me that I am the only genius (or idiot) to ever think of this. LOL No one even has any suspicions as to how this might work?

did this to a 1992 chevy that i had it worked for me BUT it woud squat the rear end a bit when u were on the gas. just buy the hangers that go on the front of the leaf's to get the lower look that u r wanting. just my 2 cents thanks!!!

you will get axle wrap! being that the truck has been lowered 2'' already removal of the overload will give you about about 500-700 lbs payload much less than stock.
