I have decided to put in a 4 or 6 position flip chip. (My truck in sig)I want to know if anyone knows of a company that can custom tune my chip for my exact truck. I also want to know what parameters of my auto transmission can an aftermarket chip control? Shift points? TC lock-up? I also want to know if anyone knows what the most safe power a chip can add in the max setting. I always seem to see that the 6.0 can be "chipped" more than the 7.3. What is the most a chip will do for the 7.3 that is otherwise bone stock? I do intend to upgrade things like exhaust and intake, maybe a 10K mod and an FPR shim. I need to know what the chip can and can't do before I start any other mods. Thanks for reading this if nothing else.

The biggest factor holding back your truck with a chip is the exhaust. The downpipe is very restrictive on the 1994.5-1997 Powerstroke. First thing is to get a larger exhaust that includes a larger downpipe. Then expect about 90HP with a good tune, more if you add a better flowing intake. The exhaust will add about 20HP, so expect about 110 HP from the combination.

 

Thanks. It would appear that the legitimate chip makers are pretty close with their claims. I will definitely be addressing the D/P, Cat, and exhaust, and there is a tymar in the future too. And of course the gauges.

 

Yeah, diesels make fantastic gains... mind boggling for the money.
