Well your right but your truck isn't front wheel drive, its rear wheel drive. I find it funny also that you can't hit 80...Thats something for me to keep in mind considering I live in the mountains where the air gets thinner and I usually drive at around 70mph and go up and down very large hills (basically the sides of mountains).

IMO, the 4.0 L V6 would be better for your specific needs. The 3.0 is a very durable engine and it suits my needs quite well (flatlands in North Carolina). However, when I took a trip to the mountains in NC, the 3.0 just didn't have the "grunt" that the 4.0 has. The gas mileage difference between the two engines isn't all that great, but keep in mind, it is a truck. With either engine, you're not going to see 28mpg on the highway.

I completley understand the mileage thing-I used to own a 92 Bronco (hence my name) that I lifted and put 33's on it. I've also owned 2 lifted Jeep wranglers...this will be my first real pick up which I've been wanting for sooo long instead of an suv, but the deals I got were too good to pass up. Now that I have my jetta and getting awesome gas mileage I like it, which is why I'm looking for a compact truck w/V6. I'm looking for 19-22mph on the highway and a decent range per tank. I've looked at the other trucks and it seems as though you can get more bang for your buck with a ranger and since theres soo many of them, you can find the newer ones pretty cheap. I'm going to test drive one today, I'll do a small write up if you guys want since I'll be driving a few other trucks also. Thanks for all the input.

I'm not sure how much each thing will give you, but keep in mind that you can't just add up what the manufacturer says.

If you want to change gears swap out the entire rear if your doing it your self, MUCH easier than setting up a rear, it's REAL art.
