Headlight Adjusting ...
Maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
I recently put in some Silverstar headlights on my 96 Ranger but they are so bright that I need to lower my headlights a bit since I constantly get flashed (and not in the good way
) Anyway, I pulled the grill off and my turn signal lights and I tried to turn the adjustment screws, and just about rounded them out. I noticed a clip on the back of each screw that I think may be inhibiting me from turning the screw. Am I supposed to remove these? And if so is there an easy way to doing so?
Thanks for your help,
Jason
NOTE: The condition of the vehicle springs, improper wheel alignment or improper rear axle tracking may affect headlamp aim.
Before making any adjustment, perform the following preparatory steps:
Remove ice or mud from under fenders.
Make sure all tires are inflated to recommended pressures.
Make sure that the vehicle attitude is typical of how the vehicle is normally operated, i.e., with full load, carrying a trailer, etc.
Clean lenses and aiming pads.
Check for proper beam switching.
Make sure output is well toward normal new lamp value.
Bounce the vehicle and allow to settle.
Perform headlamp aim adjustments with Rotunda Headlamp Aiming Kit 107-00001 or equivalent. To aim the aerodynamically styled headlamps, the adjustable aimer adapters provided in the kit must be used. Adjustment aimer adapter positions are molded into the face of the headlamp lens, near the bottom.
Set and lock the adjustable adapters, attach each adapter to its mechanical aimer, and aim headlamps per latest instructions in the kit.
