Hey guys, I am a chainsaw collector and I have recently come accross a picture of a ford chainsaw. I have heard rumor that they came with a Ford truck. I also heard there was a built in case under the hood. I dont know if that is true. I would be interested in any information about this chainsaw. Did they make more than one model? What years were they produced? How rare are they? Does anyone know How I might obtain one? Thanks- Brandan
A Ford chainsaw? From how long ago? Never heard of that, wow. I've always been partial the Husky's, they just work great! Not that the Stihl's aren't good too but the Husky's always seem to be better balanced, easier to start, more powerful per cc, etc.
If you find the Ford version be sure to post a pic.
I have a pic but I dont know how to post it. Oh I am a tree guy and I run Chainsaws constantly. Husky makes a good saw but it lacks in vibration control. I used to run them all day long and in the morning my fingers were so cramped they would hardly move for about 20 minutes. Try drinking coffee like that. Ha ha. Anyhow I switched to STIHL and I havent had that problem since. I can post that picture if someone can walk me through it. I have the pic in "my documents".
Great gallery shots, I'm still wondering how old are these Ford chainsaws? Judging from the cast body and the out of date Ford logo I'd put these at least 30+ years ago. Your thoughts?
Chainsawmadness, does yours look like this too?
Re: vibration, you're right my older Husky vibrated more but my newer one is quite nice. I'm only using them on a monthly basis not a daily basis so you probably know much more than I. My 1st Husky also lasted me almost 18 years too, with lots of trees in her wake. The newer one is only 2 years old. Which model Stihl do you prefer for most jobs? (not simple limbing)
This is the same pic I found. My stihl saws consist of an 191t, 200t, 017, 026, 028wb, 036 and an ms 880 magnum. I would like to know more about this ford saw though. Any Ideas on how I might obtain information?
Ford made a few various models of chainsaw, where they were sold, and how common they are, is anyones guess. I know where to find SOME info, not everything, but SOME info on them. http://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.ns...0&Expand=42#42
Chainsawmadness, this is the perfect website for you. I have to admit though that their Ford info is mighty lean. Also looks like my 30 yr estimate was on the money. Good luck.

Im yet to see a chainsaw that can outwork a Stihl. Ive seen a lot of saws come and go, but it seems like the common opinion is that when you are get serious, you get a Stihl.
Octane
By the looks of thsoe letters on that saw it looks more liek it was a derivative of the tractor division than the auto division of Ford Motor Company. the letters look just like a miniature version of the letters found on 3000-6000 series Ford tractors.
