mossberg 500 that i've put thousands of rounds thru and still works perfectly, mossberg 835 camo for ducks & geese then i switch to the rifled barrel for deer,
beretta a390 for skeet & sporting clays.. this is the sweetest shotgun that i've ever shot but the stock is way too nice to drag thru the woods. i would definately go with mossberg they are excellent guns for the price...imo

Mossberg 500!! Inexpensive, comes with 2 size barrels and there's lots of cool aftermarket parts for it.

Anyone have a 835 version, or is that way overkill (so to speak)?

Remington 1100. 20 gauge. Love the semiauto. Wish I had more time and money to get more accurate. Rifled slug barrel, so must use expensive Sabot ammo.

I own 2 Mossbergs. 1 .22cal made in the 50's, good plinkin gun and great for the lil pests round the yard. VERY accurate. I also own a Moss 500 20ga. Very good gun, solid construction, easy to disassemble and clean and an accurate slug gun. Safety on the top is quite handy too. I have shot much game with my shotgun and for what I paid for it (NEW) I am very pleased with it and would buy another.

Rem 870 Express. This is a tried and true design thats been around for a LONG time and you can get one that will take 3 1/2'' Mag shells for under $300.

I have the 835 and I personally dont think its overkill. I have the camo pattern for turkey(when I find the time to make it out) and if I ever wanted to I can switch to my camo slug barrel for deer. Also its pretty sweet to shoot 3 1/2's
