Mossberg 500 and Belgian Browning A-5. Both 12ga. I really like the Mossberg, it was a gift I will always treasure, but nothing beats the old humpback.

I love my Benelli pump so much I bought a second one the other day. The first has a 28" barrel, good for geese. The new one has a 24" barrel, got it for upland birds and shooting trap. I like the Benelli's because they are light weight, but kick the fire out of you when you shoot 3 1/2" turkey loads. Both are 12 guage. The old, trusty Remington 12 ga. still gets brought out of the closet every once in a while too.

Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 ga., 28" Remchoke

Winchester 1300 20 guage, 28" Winchoke
My new quail gun, Beretta AL 391 Urika 20 guage, 26" bbl (weighs in at 5.25lbs.)
Would have got a Remington 1100 20 guage instead of the Beretta but the 2 lb. difference when lugging it around all day changed my mind. The 1100 or 1187 will arrive someday in the safe.
Several rifles.
Next toy(s): Springfield M1A and Springfield or Kimber 1911 .45 acp

Remington 870. Not the finest shotgun I've had the pleasure of firing, certainly the most useful.
The finest was a Beretta over & under. Nothing I can say can do that weapon justice.

I have to agree about the 870. Best all rounder for me. I also have a Ted Williams edition Sears Roebuck 12 gauge.

I have a Winchester Model 1300 Defender. Great little riot gun. I've considered selling it because I never get to shoot anymore. I'd probably trade it for a good Miter Saw and a Circular saw if the deal ever presented itself.

It has about 150 rounds through it and I paid $350 (I think).

It looks like Mossberg is a favorite here and I agree it's a reliable piece. It also shows that a lot shoot 12 guage but for what you say you will be using it for I suggest a 20. The shells are less expensive and a day's shooting is a lot easier on the sholder. If you decide to hunt ducks someday then you'll have a good excuse to buy another gun. I have at least one of each kind of shotgun, pump, side by side, o/u etc. and I still like my old Ithica Mod. 37, 20 guage pump.

Rem 1100 12ga. It's only 2 3/4" chambered, but it takes care of everything I shoot at from clays to Canadian geese. If I were to buy a new one, it would prob. be the Winchester SuperX2. Same gun as Browning Gold, with the exception of the "autoloading feature", for less money.

I can chamber a round myself from the mag tube, don't need the gun to do it for me, which is all that's different between BG and SX2.

I bought my first mossgerg 500 about 20 years ago and never had any touble. I never liked the sloppy fit that the pump on it had because it rattles around in the woods if you don't hold it, but it has always been a reliable gun. I bought a second one last year when my son started hunting. I bought it from a from a friend who said it wouldn't shoot straight. I had sighted it in for him years ago, then he added a scope because he wasn't satisfied, and then he sold it to me.

Out in the woods with my son (I gave him my old 20 year old gun to use) I took a deer at 80 yards with a clean shot using the new one. Of course I was using slugs that my friend didn't want to try.

i have a Browning BPS 12 gauge hunter. it's a great gun, it's my first gun. i am planning on either buying another BPS but in the mossy oak shadow grass and in 3 1/2 for duck/goose/turkey killin.

my dad has a benelli nova and he is pretty happy w/ it. good gun, good company and good price. brand new in camo is like 360 i believe. reliable guns, not too heavy ( but not that light either ) and good looking

I have 2 Remington 870's (both older ones, 12ga.) The first dates from 1972, 3" mag 30" full choke vent rib barrel, bought it for trap shooting and waterfowl hunting. It has had over 10000 rounds (easily) fired through it (that's just what I counted during my high school reloading years), which ended 1976.

The second is the protection shotgun, top folding stock, mag extension, etc.

The third is a rarety, a Browning 'Twelvette', otherwise sold as a 'double automatic'. Semi Auto, no feedtube, holds one round in the chamber and one
below the bolt in the receiver. Dates from the 1960's, and I have never seen another. 26" Improved cylinder, great for Rabbits and skeet, 12 ga. also.

No hunting just for fun. Go with something inexpensive and light. My first one was a Stevenss .20 gauge single shot. I now use a Winchester Model 97 .16 gauge, finest shotgun ever made. For someone starting a nice side by side or over/under in .410 or .20 gauge would be nice. Less recoil and easy to handle. You can always upgrade as your priorities change. Mossberg would be one of a number of good choices for what you apparently are looking for. However hang onto Mom's Remington someday that may be your main shooter.

1999.5 Ford F250 PSD, Lariat, X Cab, Long Box, Banks Bughead and Trans Command, Gauges and other goodies.

Keep your powder dry.

I have a NE-arms, similar to a Pardner 20-Gauge single shot. I love it, but I want to complement it with a 12-gauge pump.

Alvie.
