Front end used to be different, the dealer told me that now the only difference is an extra 2" in the lift blocks.

You also get the F350 badges and the load rating tag, not just the rear blocks.

When you guys say "block" is the only difference in the F250 and F350, what does the "block" mean?

A block is a piece of metal placed between the leaf springs and the axle.

The taller rear blocks allow the springs to compress more before the rear of the truck appears to sag... 2" more in this case.

A few F-350 4x4 owners have replaced the 4" rear blocks with 2" F-250 blocks to allow more bed-rail clearance for the tongue of their 5th wheel trailers (some trailers sit lower than others). I have talked to other 5th wheel owners who bought a 4x4 F-250 to get the shorter blocks for the same reason and then installed helper airbags in the rear to keep everything level under load.

Regardless, if you have a 250 you will have a smaller weight capacity than with a 350. No quick mod will change the number on your door sticker. The 350 guy with 2" blocks has a 350 weight sticker, and the 250 guy with airbags has a 250 sticker.

OBTW, if your truck will be checked by "The Man", I'm sure there are weight capacities which you do not want to exceed. This is based on a recent thread where a guy was towing over the max weight with a business-owned truck and was ticketed.

I can not say what all the physical differences between the two are and it may be just the rear block, but the payload for the 250 is still 8800# less the weight of the truck, fuel, passengers and any other items in the vehicle. You can change the bages, the blocks and all the rest but the VIN# still says 250 and your insurance company will have a lot to say about not paying for an accident where you were overloaded.

The major difference in the two is payload, the 250 is a 3/4 ton truck, the 350 SRW is a 1 ton aqnd the dully is 1 1/2 ton and there is no leagal way to change that. What can be done and what you become lible for if you overload are between you and your insurance company. I have seen a lot of RV's that were way to big for the 250 but pulled them fine but would not recommend it.

if you regularly haul 700+ pounds and/or pull trailers with lots of tounge weight go with a f-350 dually if not stick with a F-350 SRW. can't hurt to have the extra legal capacity and there is not much cost differance.

Get a dually if you want more payload.I really dont understand how they can rate a 250srw and a 350srw 1100 gvwr difference if they are only changing the blocks.

Here in Utah a f350 can be lifted without restrictions, a 250 can not. My friend and I were head out of town, got pulled over, he got a ticket for altered suspension (his is a 250) same lift on mine but no ticket (mine a 350)

Here in Utah a 350 is considered a commercial vehicle

go figure

my 2 cents worth
