My Whirlpool washing machine will drip water into the barrel from the top while off, and fillup the drum. Any ideas? It did this about six months ago and then stopped. Is it a bad valve or something?

Sounds like a mixing valve. Click here for the fix.
Since I moved, my washing machine started acting up also. It constantly leaves water in the drum...making washing towels a real bear . It usually takes a second rinse cycle to get the water out.
The only difference now is I don't have a tub to drain in, only a direct pipe which leads UP and over a wall to the drain. I think it is having a hard time getting the water over the wall...in turn letting it leak back into the drum.
Unfortunately the sewer is near the floor joists so it's an uphill climb no matter what. Real bummer

Yep, you got a little too much head pressure there, Freightrain. Ever tried a lift station - small one in a sump? This may be your only cure.
