my brakes work great, its one of the first things i noticed about the truck, i have the FX4 with four wheel disc. Do they all have the four wheel disc XLT, Lariet Etc.??? or just the FX4??
If anyone finds out what that space is below the cup holders is for on the standard console, let me know. For me, it is totally useless. Also, I'm like almost everyone else on the brake dust issue.

My '02 Lariat has 4 wheel disc. I'd assume they all have 4 wheel disc by now. Even the Rangers have 4 wheel disc.
As far as brake dust, I learned a little trick years ago. Wax your rims and the dust won't stick. If you are going to spend all that time cleaning them up (or paying a kid to scrub them), then take 5 more minutes and wax them when you wax the truck. Next time you just hit them with the hose and the dust rinses off.
I made that space below the cupholders my "Official Wallet Holder" however if you accelerate too fast, your wallet falls on the floor and you panic for a second thinking that you lost it...
Maybe I will put some velcro in there.....

Good point about waxing the rims,
I had a 97 EXPY that emmitted a slight black fog everytime I stopped because there was so much dust being generated.... I also would go through brake pads like they were Pancakes at a Lion's Club Breakfast. But that is what I got for living on the Hill in Duluth, Minnesota....

Ok Ok Ok I know, three posts in a row is a no-no but I forgot to get to the MAIN POINT in my last post.....
Waxing is a good idea, but stay away from the "tire wet look" products. If you are having problems with brake dust sticking to your wheels/tires now.... wait until after you hose them down with that crap. Most of those products stay rather "wet" and greasy and attract Brake Dust like mad.
Also here is a more (very) expensive way to limit the dust on the tires/wheels. Go to a lower rolling resistance tire. This creates less static electricity, which helps make the dust stick to things. I am also looking for some type of a wax product that contains a "static guard" to wax the whole truck with. It would help with the dust that sticks to your freshly clean truck. I know that they used to use some products on aircraft to keep the static down, but I have not seen that for years.
I AM SORRY for the 10,000 posts I just did, and that I got this WAYYYYYY off topic.
My apologies,
MK
boy your not kidding about the tire wet products, it's like a magnet to metal. the static free wax sounds like a good idea. my neighbor details car's on the side, and one day I saw him hold up a dish looking thing to the wheels as he was spraying on the tire wet spray, keeping the spray off the wheels. I think this is a great idea, since having the tires good and black certainly makes the truck look 100% better.
I found a new dislike today. My 2002 Sport Trac had a nice tinted area on the top of the windshield which looked good and also helped with sun glare. My Screw doesn't have this at all.
4-wheel ABS dics brakes are standard on all '04 and '05 F150's.
The wax trick does work pretty well for keeping brake dust off the rims. I would say it probably cuts it at least in half. Give it a try.

Ok, I'm gonna sound like a jackass, but here it goes. I can't stand where they put the damn 4X4 switch. It's right next to the fan speed switch and it looks just like it. The light on the instrument panel is way too small and dim. The other day I went to increase the speed of my heater and was distracted. You got it, I switched into 4 wheel. The worst part was, I didn't notice it until I got off the hwy 30 miles later when I made a sharp turn. I've owned 4X4's for 20yrs and this is the first time this has ever happened.
Can't they find a better place and shape for that switch?
