A buddy of mine has a 2000(?) f-150 stepside and is running straight pipes w/ no muffler. I'm guessing that would be pretty cheap to install and would save lots of money as compared to buying a whole new flowmaster delta series system. His sounds decently deep and loud for what it is. Anyone tried it w/ a 01' Screw?
I just yesterday pulled the muffler off my 94 302, and in my case it did give it a bit deeper tone. A burble at idle, a masculine sound as I get it in gear...and a definate roar when I get on it hard.
For a really good tone...you really need good tips. Long, large bore tips. I think I might get by with tipping the exhaust as it is right now...and having it be just fine. I like how it is now..course louder would be better but ya know =P. Dualing it out will also be 240 dollars.
I cutout a 6 inch section of my single exhaust in my '01 SCab 5.4, barely noticeable deep tone at idle, nice loud deep tone in gear, and drag strip sounding roar at WOT. Didn't bother with duals, just felt like having a loud truck, however I am very deceitful I still have the rest of the exhaust, looks very stock, but sounds like a monster.
