Anybody running a Flowtech Raptor on their inline six?
How does it sound?
I am seriously thinking of putting one on mine, chop off the stock muffler and tailipe, install the Raptor and a tailpipe out in front of the wheel
Will it sound deep and bossy, but not too too loud?
Right now I just opened up the back plate of my stock muffler behind the pipe from the front, so it acts like a straight through and does it sound nice. Deep tone and everything, but the perforated pipe inside is 2" which is restrictive compared to the 2.25 pipe coming into the muffler. So the Raptor may be better at 2.25 inch, or is the 2" not a problem? If not, I can just run a tailpipe off the opening and be done with it. What say?
I used to run a Flowtech Terminator on mine, which I believe is the same the Raptor other than the Terminator is fully welded. It sounded great with the exhaust otherwise stock. My only problem as the quality. The end (the whole end, not just a hole in it) of the muffler blew out for no obvious reason after a relatively short time. Non-welded muffler also tend to rattle and develop odd sounding leaks. Other than the sound, I have not been impressed with Flowtech products.
I would run a 2.5" muffler even if the pipe that feeds it is only 2.25" unless it isn't possible for some reason.
Well for $20 it can't be an extremely well made muffler.
Stock muffler is 12 years old and looks solid as a rock. Maybe that 2" perforated tube is not so bad as some still flows out old tailpipe. I think will bolt flange to back of muffler at hole and route second tailpipe in front of tire. Try that for a while and if no good, can always get something else. Sounds great now. Tailpipe should take some edge off volume which would be perfect.
