Try calling Banks with a problem, friend of mine played phone tag for a week and I have seen posts here to that effect.

I think it is regional. I have never had a problem getting through and I did have one issue that was resolved quickly by a service tech. I think every company has issues at one time or another. Banks is not known however for great the great service I have recieved though. Tim in here knows all too well how bad they are at returning his calls. Myself though no troubles. Tim, I have decided to do the intercooler as soon as I can hide enough money from the wife for it. I will let you know how it does. Oh yeah, I scanned my dyno results and will be posting them to the gallery in a few minutes.

I would agree, probably a regional thing. I would say Banks probably got behind and have worked issues out.
I am interested in the inter-cooler and I have also found another company that has a new style cooler by design that eliminates any seams from leaking, I need to call and see if one has been or could be developed for the 6.0

When the six gun first came out for the 6.0 they were giving dates they could not meet but the guy that handles my region always called me back within 30 minutes if he was not immediately available. Tim Lamkin on the other hand can't get them to call him back at all.

hey thedxman,
first, sorry for the spark comment, i'm use to dealing with gas tuners..my bad.
second, you may want to take reading lessons before making aggressive comments. my reply siad "OWN" not "WON"
third, my impressions of the banks were exactly that..impressions. i believe in the beginning i stated most tuners are pretty equal. and of course we will all talk about our own products because thats what we have experince with. how can i comment on another when i have no experience with anything else?

Hey Guys, I just thought you might want to know that the Banks 6 Gun Doesn't detect trans slip as advertised. My trans slipped after my install and I called Banks Tech and was informed of this. My tach went from 3-4 thousand on a full throttle launch in 2 wd on damp pavement. I pulled the Banks off and took the truck to the dealer, they showed no problems and no codes of slippage. I then towed 13,000lbs for 1500 miles with no problems at all. I then reinstalled the Banks 6 Gun. First time 0 to 60 in the # 2 setting and the trans slipped again. Taking it off for good now! I think Banks is the problem or at least the one that I have.
Power? I can't imagine the Predator being any faster but if it increases the line pressure in the transmission then I would consider that a big plus. Banks claimed they beat the snot out of their test mule but I can't see the trans talking that kind of power for long. I'm afraid for my trans but want my power back, Ideas anyone?

sorry to hear that about Banks. I bought a manual transmission so I would not have to worry about stuff like that as much. I have heard the Edge product had a similar problem and one of the many diesel shops I checked before buying anything would not put it or the Six Gun on an automatic. That is too bad Banks can't fix the issue. I know you have to program the Banks product in conjunction with the tranny and the programming procedure kind of sucks. Could that be the problem? Again, I wouldn't know because I don't like automatics.

Thumbs up

I've been out of the forum for quite a while- I parked my truck in June when I bought a commuter car that gets 41 MPG... I use my truck to haul ski boats and dirt bikes, and it has only seen 1000 miles or so in the last 5 months- I had put 16,000 miles on it in the 8 months I owned it prior to getting the econo-box. The bottom line is that this truck is a big toy, used to pull toys. At 16,000 miles (or so), I installed the Banks Monster Exhaust and the Six-Gun with Speedloader. I have a full gauge pod on the pillar, and don't miss the handle- I got used to it, don't even notice it, and grab the steering wheel to get in if I eat too much BBQ.

My impressions of the Banks system- I love it, but have had some weird problems. Tons of power, probably the same as most other boxes and tuners, the tranny shifts fine, the rear tires will melt down if you coax the turbo with the brakes, and the mileage is a little lower than stock- because I’m in it all the time. I’ve had no tranny slippage. I have had a couple of occurrences where I get a ton of black smoke, EGT goes to 1400, and power drops off to the point where I can’t climb a hill at 70 MPH… Banks is looking into that problem now. That happened two or three times, once pulling a ski boat up a mild grade (3500 lb), once unloaded, flooring it into traffic. I’m at 4500 to 7000 feet altitude up here. I have thought of getting a tuner to read codes, and am curious as to the power difference between the tuner and my Banks unit. Sure would be nice to see a side-to-side comparison on all products on the same truck- with dyno runs. Maybe one of the magazines will come up with this- it would sell a million copies (or at least as many as there are 6.0s out there). Anyone know of any such comparison on the SAME truck? It sounds like there is quite a bit of variation between the results on different trucks.

Banks’ service can be a bit spotty - I emailed my contact there for months with no response, so I just called them, talked to him, and he sent me on to a tech support guy- I had to hold for 5-10 minutes, but the guy who answered was polite, concerned, and is addressing my issue. The bottom line is that you need to call the company directly if you want to talk to someone, and just hold for as long as it takes.

I don’t know if this is the best product out there, but I like it. If someone wants to send me one each of all the other products, I’d be happy to install them one by one and do the tests… yea, sure…

By the way, I just ordered an intercooler kit from Banks for $1078 - they have some returned overstocks that are about $200 below usual cost from Banks, or $100 below what I've seen at other internet sites. They SAY this will boost my HP gain to 150 or 160. I just like to tinker...

I just had the tech department from Banks get back to me today. They needed some more info and are going to engineering to find out what can be done about my problem. According to the guy in tech this is the first trans slip pooblem they have seen in the 05. I'm not sure I buy that but they sure are trying to solve my problem, now if they can solve it.
