Stepside to Straight bed

Through the use of our newly rediscovered search feature ( Thanks FTE!!!) I found the answer to a question I had; Wether or not I could replace my step side bed with a regular short bed. The answer was yes.
The question it didnt answer was wether or not there are only certain years that I can use. My truck is an 84 4wd stepside. I have a lot of junkyards around here and some body work experiance. I plan on buying the best bed I can and do what ever work is needed then replace my stepside. I dont care much for stepsides but got a good deal on this truck.
Just need to know what years I can use the bed off of that will bolt right on.

Thanx a lot yall.

80-86 shortbeds are the same, but 80-96 shortbeds would work. The fender flares are a little different. Your still gonna have a shortbed when your done. You should have no trouble more than making the cost of a regular bed when you sell the stepside bed if it's in good shape. Us stepsiders almost have our own little cult here on FTE

Thanx for the info. I was hoping that would be the answer, I like the 95,96 style beds and tail lights. Guess that's what I'll look for then.
I've been looking for pics of stepsides to see how it would look if I lifted it and put on 35's. I've only found one so far but I sorta like the way it looks. Much better than stock with 31's.
So I unvoluneraly joined a cult huh? Hahahah Anybody interested in a black stepside in good shape (with good wood)

Mmmmm......stepside in good shape WITH good wood! If it is is REALLY good shape you could probably get at least $1000 for it! The tailgates alone are worth $500 or so from an aftermarket company brand new.

Actually, a black 4x4 stepside sounds like what I have! Do a search and find "flaresiders unite, show off your flares" and there are plenty of pics there. Who knows, you might change your mind.

Dang, i would take that bed off of you if the tailgate and front panel is good for 500, but now that beast has gone and said 1000, there goes my hopes. Oh well, want to part at least with the tailgate if its straight? lol just giving you a hard time.

I would be interested in some parts or the whole bed too if it is in good shape. Where are you located at?

Thanks Chuck
