I am considering replacing my stepside bed on my '63 with a more modern stepside out of a Ranger. Anybody tried something like this? I am not necessarily sold on a Ranger bed, perhaps a full size would also work. Anybody know what might work, what years I could consider> I would like as simple a bolt in as possible.
Thanks,JL
I think any (short) stepside bed from 53-79 is about the same and will work on your truck. In 1980, Ford went to different rear fenders, though the box could be the same, I'm not sure. My opinion? I would not use a Ranger box, it is too narrow, wheel openings would not match, and it would never look right on your truck. Find a full size short step bed and you will never regret it!
I have a 63 F100 with the long 59 type style side bed. It is rusting out throug the passenger side where the bed floor is attached to the bed wall. I would like to change the bed to a 64/66 type long bed. Junk yards in my area look at me like I am crazy when I try to find parts for the truck. Any place in the DC/Maryland/Virginia/PA area that would have parts/ beds for these trucks ? Or about how much would it cost to have the front of the bed floor replaced along with fixing the side of the bed ? Anyone have a rough estimate on how much it costs to get a whole truck painted ?
Thanks

Andy63. I know where there's a 66 F-100 with a decent styleside longbed in a junkyard in PA. I need the rear bumper. I'll let you know where after I get the rear bumber and few other odds and ends off that truck in a wek or so.
