Ok, E1, here goes again!!!! I have a CD stuck in CD player, took to the shope, they can't get it out and looks like I need a new one, can any one give me a clue as to where to find a factory cd/fm/am system? Or does anyone have a clue as how the h~~ll I get that CD out!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think you could likely find a sweet aftermarket deck for quite a bit cheaper than a factory one. I tried to get a factory single disc for my 97 ranger and was told they were $600.00! As for getting the disc out, I would just pull the deck apart, since you gotta replace it anyway.
Thanks splash, you got any suggestions where I could start looking for one, I really do not care if it's a 6 CD player anymore, 1 would do just fine by me.
Best Buy, Circuit City, specialty car audio places. they frequently have a room with decks mounted in the walls and all sorts of speakers to try. Heck, even Walmart has a small selection. most places will install it as well. You can get whatever features you want, then. You may try the electronics forum, as well. They would have more information than i can give you. Good Luck!
You might want to browse Crutchfield's web site. You can do a search on your vehicle to only list those units that will fit with the features you want (like MP3, for example). They also include necessary filler panels and cable interface connectors with a unit to ease installation.
Depends on how it is stuck. I had a situation where it would not eject all the way out and it would not go back in unless I pushed it back with a credit card. I was able to grasp the CD with two thin business cards or to credit cards. One on top and one on the bottom of the CD. Then by holding them together I was able to pull it out. The trick is getting something thin enough to put inside the CD player as I discribed and then squeezing them together with enough pressure to pull the CD out. It does work tho as I have done this on a 98 mustang with the same problem. Good luck!
