Unhappy CD stuck in single CD player - 2004 Explorer

I'm new to the site, and I tried to search for this issue using the search feature, but only found reference to a six CD changer, and I don't have one of those....

I have the factory installed radio/CD player in my 2004 Explorer. I put a CD in, and now it won't come out - it reads EJ ERR. My husband says this happened to him once when the weather was cold, and after the weather warmed up it came out, but that hasn't worked for me. Is there ANY way to get this CD out without taking it in for service? I wouldn't mind losing the CD if I could just get it to come out.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

After checking my books, I would call Ford and ask them, can't hurt or cost you, maybe the phone call.

My JVC combo tape/CD player has an eject button that you can push with an opened paper clip when all else fails; wonder if the stock unit has the same feature? Also, maybe someone in the Audio & Video Systems, Mobile Electronics Forum can help.

Welcome to FTE!
