Mine used to be "Hi, Stu D. here, I can't answer the phone right now, because I'm either busy or I just don't feel like it. Leave me a message and maybe Ill call you back." People that know me understand the dry sense of humor, but I found out that a unique message really sticks with people that use the phone alot. When you call them back they say "nice message," or something like that, but you know that at least they remember your name and voice... even if the message is goofy.
This is 1234's and I'm busy teaching my pet Orca, French. Please leave a message.
This is 1234 and I'm busy digging a moat around my house so that I can stock it with man- eating crocodiles. Please leave a message and I'll get back to you.
hello.....helllooo?........i can't hear you, could you speak up? speak into the receiver. look look look, im not here right now, but if you'll leave your name etc...
The message on my cell phone is "hey hang on, I'm on the other line". Everyone loves it.
The one I had before it was "Hey maaiin, dis is antwaan, i aint hurr right now, so leave me a messaaage and i, i, i'll holla back atcha". Too bad I'm a white redneck so the whole ebonic slang doesn't come out too fluent.
The one before that on was me acting like I was ordering food from a drive-through. It went something like "Hang on one second" and in the background you could hear me say "Make that a large fry and coke. No I dont want an extra large, just a large. No, I dont want anything else. THAT IS ALL I WANT. No, I dont want extra napkins. GIVE ME THE DANM TOTAL B*TCH!!" and then it ends. That was probably the best one I've ever had.
#1 - "I am currently holding a video conference with the UN. I will return your call once my demands for world domination are met."
#2 - "I am currently wacking a behive with a stick. I'll return your call once they release me from the hospital."
#3 - "A is for academics, B is for beer. One of those is the reason I'm not here. Leave your name and number and I'll get right back to you."

I like that one!
Anyway, our home message is just the standard one, like "Hi this is Joe and Tracy..."
You'd think the person on the other end actually LISTENS to the answering machine before they proceed to leave a message for the wrong number. I swear all they hear is the beep and it's talking time.
Well, I'm getting some good ideas too. I just might use some.
My son (college freshman) did his cell phone greeting after sucking down some helium. First time I called him I about wet myself I was laughing so hard.
Remember the song by "The Big Bopper" ....Hellooooooo Babyyyyyyy !...(singing).... Tell me who I'm speaking to.. you say what? .........you say what ?.....
I,m out back panning for gold
