Earlier, I had a Code P1131 and with your help I checked my MAF and throttle body. I cleaned both and found them to not be very bad. Then I changed the fuel filter (it was dirty) and the check engine light went out.
Now, whenever I go on the highway, the check engine light comes on again. It takes a week of in-town driving for it to go out.
There seems to be something about highway driving or the higher speeds. My mileage on this 1996 2.3 is 26 MPG.
What do you think?
Could I still somehow be starving my engine and getting a lean fuel mix?
I'd run this puppy by your favorite autoparts store like Advance Auto or AutoZone, which locally use the Actron CP9145 scanner which can read PID's, so it can directly monitor O2 output readings. They will scan your computer for codes at no cost too.
How does your air filter look????
How about a intake manafold vacuum leak, or vacuum lines maybe????
