1996 F150 401 code
Check engine light..401 code...replaced egr valve..light comes back on after driving on the highway for 30 miles. What next?? also, can't find the switch to turn off the gas pressure when changing the fuel filter. Thought it was under the dash somewhere, can't find it. Truck is becoming harder to start. Cranks but doesn't want to start.. Please help, this truck has been very well attended to and only has 49,000 miles on it, hate for things to go wrong, now.

Are you sure that the code was 401? I have been searching for that code and can not find it. What size engine do you have? Also check out this site http://www.dalidesign.com/hbook/index4.html It has all of the EEC codes. Keep us posted and we will try to help.

There is not a switch to depressurize the fuel system. The switch only turns off the pump, which is already off if the ignition is off.
To purge the pressure you need to find the schraeder valve on the fuel mainfold. Just wait a few minutes after shutting of the engine, then hold a rag under it while you push the pin.
