I'l be installing electric locks shortly and will be giving it a lot of thought since I'm considering bearclaws.
That's good to know about using the small size 51Fordfan, thanks!
Yea, like I said the large ones would have been to intrusive. I would have had to installed those steel replacment mounting units they sell. That mounting kit was an extra cost besides the latches. I was not real excited about the thought of cutting out the pillar, or the door to weld in new mounting sections. I had a devil of a time welding in the rotted spots in the door bottoms, and in the rear of the cab. When I exchanged the latches for the smaller units the guy at the Hot Rod supply told me the larger units are designed more for larger trucks such as 18 wheelers.
Its a little wierd though when you are working on the truck and your thoughts are on that project. And you reach for the door handle and realize there isn't one.
I am really happy with how well the latches work. The doors close so easy now you can close them with one finger. But that may change in a couple weeks as I will be installing the weatherstripping around the doors.

If anyone is interested in purchasing a set of bearclaw latches for their truck, I would gladly recommend Danny's Rod Shop in Goshen, Ohio. Toll free order line (1-800-335-1932), Tech/info. line(513-722-3522). He sells standard bearclaw, or the double arm bearclaw for using inside door handles, and outside. He also sells the installation kit which has the steel plate with a bolt already mounted for the striker. They also sell solinoids, and actuators. Very nice people to deal with. Tell them Bubba sent you.
