while trying to clean my egr to clear a check engine light, i broke the right bolt holding the egr( what a great day this is going to be)....1, should i have allowed the engine to heat up first, would this of allowed the bolt to come out easier, the second bolt seems to be tight as well, and the last thing i want to do is break them both off..2, the only fix i see here is to drill it and try to easy-out the broken bolt, what size threads are on the bolt, it was a clean break, i feel pretty confident i can do this without screwing the threads up, but if it come s down to it, i'll have to run a tap in there. any help here is greatly apprieciated.
Hey NASA-HVAC.
bummer dude. My two cents worth are to remove the throttle body with the pleminium or the elbow that bolts the throttle body to the lower intake. This would make cleaning the egr ports a lot better, and repairing the bolt problem. TIP. Tape the 1/4" drive u-joint to the socket and the extension. It WILL save a lost tool. I know. Good luck. Its not that bad to do.
