Question Question About Oil Pressure

my truck reads normal oil pressure but once it warms up the gauge pegs eventually, sometimes it will drop back to normal and then suddenly spike right back up. heck sometimes when the turn signal is on you can see it slightly bounce. anybody have any ideas? thanks, matt

Sounds like the oil sending unit is bad.

It is located by the oil filter on the 4.6L and 5.4L motors if memory serves me right.

It should be covered in a chilton or haynes manual.

If that is the case, I would reccomend getting you motor hooked up to a mechanical gauge an see what the readings are.

What you describe is common with a bad sending unit or the sending unit wire is some how mangled/corroded/shorted out.

They are not that hard to change. You can pick one up for between $5-$10 at Advance Auto. That was the only thing I've had to do since I got my F150.
