Epson Printer Malfunctioning

I picked up a Epson Color stylus 777i printer at a fleemarket for 5 bucks, couldnt pass it up. I got new ink cartridges for it as well. I connected the comptuer cable to the comptuer port. I cannot get this thing to print for me, Ill hit the print buttong on the puter and it doseant print, instead after maybe 30 seconds or so an error message comes up that says there was an error. It also says to check to see that the printer is online, how do I do this? To be a little more specific, when I hit the printer icon there is absoutley no response from the printer. Can somone please help me with this thing, I am no computer/software guru, in fact, Im pretty dumb when it comes to computers.

Johnathon, check to see if your confuser even see's the printer. (Start button/ Printers and Faxes)

What operating system are you running? (ie. Windows XP or 98, or other)

You probably need to download the drivers for that model....

Did you go to Start/Add Printer and install the drivers for this. You may not need to download drivers if the system already has them.

Its on ME. Also, I installed the driver from the epson website, and the puter does reconize that the printer is on there.

What kind of connection are you using? Parallel or USB. If USB and the printer is capable of being connected thru a parallel port, try that. I have not had much luck in the past eith printers and USB connections. Everything else I connected thru USB was fine, but not printers.
