Courtesy light switch troubleshooting help needed

I have a 1997(old body style) F-250 HD. My courtesy lights stopped working when the driver's door is opened. Works fine with the other three doors(crew cab). I thought it was the switch and bought another. Didn't fix it, so got the multimeter out. Two wires to the swtich, one is ground and the other I'm presuming to be power. I only see 1.8V(steadily) on this wire. On the passenger side, I'm reading 12V. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance for the help. :-)

John

Sounds like a broken or loose wire. Follow it (and testing for power) until you find the problem.

Also, check the switch on the door frame. It should be mounted on the rear, upright door frame of the cab. I think it also controls the seatbelt retracter.
