Hi. Can any one help with if a courtesy light was ever offered on 64 models if so one or both side door switches connected to the cab dome light? and also what position and what type of switch? I have finished every thing else and am now looking for some rarer accessories, any thoughts. thanks.
If original, they will look like the switch used in the dimple in the dash above the keys for the electric squirts in '65 and '66.
Running change to that in October '65 calendar year for '66 model year with 2 speed wiper motor.
Before serial number 760,001
C3TZ-17A553-E (SW-721)
4 terminal switch. Squirts were on the separate button above the keys.
After serial number 760,001
C6TZ-17A553-B (SW-736)
7 terminal switch with squirts built in. Rotate **** to left to activate them. Separate pushbutton switch above keys eliminated.
The separate pushbutton switch is part number 2C-11500 might still available from Ford according to older post by ND.
What does the switch in the door jamb do? Turn on and off the interior cab light above the rear window?
To my knowledge, door jamb switch operated courtesy lights were not offered by the factory through 1966, but they could easily have been installed by a dealer. I added that feature to my truck using a '66 Mustang wiring diagram and Mustang door switches (not the electric windshield washer pump push button). Did not need to change out the headlight switch with courtesy light on/off switch. While you're at it, you can also use Mustang convertible floor lights on each side of the hump to light up the footwells.
The switches are the same as the 60st bird and it controls two lights under the dash that are the same as the early falcon. number dummy will come around I think it was a parts counter option. I've pulled mine out when I was rewiring the truck ill be putting new ones in soon.
I think to myself that we really muddy the waters when parts counter options are considered original.
I mean, you could walk in and buy a crate motor over the parts counter and go install it in your truck. Original?
Dealer installed, perhaps, could be twisted to be original if there is supporting documentation. But if we all consider anything installed on our trucks prior to the purchase (how ever many decades later) as original then it is a free-for-all.
Thats true but were not talking about aftermarket, these are genuine ford accessories. Take from this what you will but the op asked about door jamb switches so I figured I'd at least let him know what was available when you bought your new ford truck.
That is a rockin' accessory, but where are the pictures of the lights?
I just went and looked at a '66 F100 4x4 SWB this week that had lights everywhere. Very rare truck but it had been butchered. Pissed me off no end that people would do those sorts of things to a truck like that. CB antenna on the roof. Cargo light cut into the back of the cab outside above the window. And courtesy lights that they stuffed under the dash. Not a good job. Real hack job. Wiring looked like crap.
Some people think the more mods the more it is worth. But, we all know what trucks will bring the best money in the long run.
