i have a 97 v8 explorer with 180k miles. the throttle sticks. requires a good amount of force to break free, then it operates freely. replaced the throttle cable - didn't make a difference. while troubleshooting this, noticed it only sticks when the engine is running. goes away when it's off. a strip of electrical tape between the throttle arm on the throttle body and the idler adjustment screw made the problem a little better. any ideas?

Reason: additional info
Carbon, soot, etc. can accumulate around the lip of the seat for the throttle body valve. Try some throttle body cleaner spray (not carb. spray and don't wipe the special coating inside).
Mine is doing exactly the same thing, only sticks with engine running and the hotter the engine is, the more it sticks. I tried throttle body cleaner, it helped a little bit but it still sticks. Only thing I can think of is the throttle body gets a little warped with age and has a tendency to get sticky at idle. Or the previous owner removed the protective coating inside the throttle body trying to clean it out. Haven't found a fix for it yet besides replacing the throttle body. And they aren't cheap.
