2003 EB Exp Automatic A/C Problem
The Truck is a 2003 Eddie Bauer Expedition with about 23,000 miles on it and a single zone automatic air conditioner.
Took the family on a trip this past weekend. Weather was in the mid 70's. Had the A/C on auto. It would get warmer in the cabin and you could hear the fan speeding up like it wanted to cool us down but it did not blow any air in the cabin.
Tried switching modes, changing the temperature, and shutting it off. The only way we could get it to blow air was to stop the truck and leave it off for about 10 minutes, then it would be fine for about another hour and it would do it again???? It has never given us any trouble and the A/C has always worked fine, and it normally works hard we live in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Anybody got any ideals on what’s going on with this thing? I just know my local dealer is going to hit me with my least favorite phrase, “unable to replicate customer complaint.”
In advance I appreciate your help!

There are some TSBs regarding the a/c cutting out on extended drives. I live in south Georgia and my a/c works hard too but it has failed me or cut out thank god but a friend of mine has an '04 XLT and her a/c is always cutting out on long drives. But here are the TSBs regarding your issue; there are two of them.

I had our '03 Expy A/C problems fixed at Five Star Ford in N Richland Hills. I have learned through experiance that it helps to have a copy of the TSB in your hand when you try to get warranty work done. I just had my faded side panels replaced...I got nowhere until I came back with a copy of the TSB and asked for a # for a Ford Service Rep...Then, no problemo!

It is the National Highway Transportation Safety Association (NHTSA).
The direct website to the TSB search is:

Hope this helps. K. Helms
