Yes, but the F-series is the number one selling vehicle car or truck of all time. In 97, it passed the VW Beetle.

Yep- in the last two years it outsold the Camry and the Accord combined.

But the F-Series has been sold for a lot longer than the Corolla.

I would like to know the yearly sales.

But then again the Corolla is sold in a lot more markets than the F-Series...

Yes the corolla also outsold the beetle. Well over 25 million units. The F series debuted in 1948. The corolla was first introduced in america in 1968.

This new 500 car from Ford could be the end of Toyotas dominance in the car market. Will have to wait and see. People would rather buy American anyday if the quality is there. Time will tell.

The time will take four to six years, before we will know.

The reason american companies have lower quality is because we will buy it anyways. If we suddenly quit buying lower quality cars in favor of higher qaulity cars. They would have to make higher quality cars. Cause and effect.

They started to lose market share because of quality issues. So they improved the quality. Alas, We are still 20 years behind the japanese. The gap is a lot smaller than it was 10 years ago. They were light years ahead of us.

The fallacy of american thinking astounds me. Quality is ALL that matters. I will not plunk down my hard earned on something that has inferior quality. Most americans understand this when it comes to stereos. Where is the big leap in autos? Capatalism is wonderful. The consumer gets to set the market. If its not what we want then we dont buy it. If they dont sell it they have to make something better. The problem is we have resigned ourselves to buying crud year after year. Not only do we accept it. We look forward to it. Its pathetic.
Gm is at the foreskin of the american quality movement. I applaud them. The japanese got their business model from an american proffesor. Too bad we werent listening.

Brand loyalty is hobbling progress. We are our own worst enemas.

You serious?

To me , that's like saying they won't need to spray for mosquitos next spring because we have a new fly swatter! Yeah, they changed the color to black!

150ford,

You're exactly right! It COULD happen again and it just might...

I've heard so much hype from all sides over the last few years...I hardly know which propaganda/sales pitch to even give a second thought to anymore.

One of Ford's latest slogans "If you haven't looked at a Ford lately, look again"...yeah, right!!! They STILL have problems (just like the rest). Sometimes I think EVERY manufacturer out there is just trying to peddle their inferior products.

Think about it...when is the last time you heard someone say, "I bought a new Ford (or Chevy, or Dodge, or whatever), drove it 10 years, put 150k miles on it and didn't have a minute's problem out of it...never took it back to the dealership for anything!"

We should be hearing that WAY more often...if there were truly well-built cars/trucks to be had.

Or even, "Had it for 5 years, put 50k miles on it and was trouble-free since day 1!"

Either I'm just the most unfortunate vehicle purchaser to ever come down the pike or there's enough JUNK out there to be had by ALL, no matter which brand you're loyal to.

I've certainly heard the above statements from MORE Japanese car/truck owners than American-made (sorry to say).

I'm just gonna start lookin' at Consumer reports and go with their reviews/reliability ratings...but then again, even Consumer Reports may be in someone's back pocket - spewing lies & half-truths!

If it sounds like I'm fed up with the quality from auto manufacturers...you got my drift!

And you can bet whenever I buy new from now on (as I have in the past)...I'm gonna make sure they throw in (at a reduced price) the best/most comprehensive/longest lasting warranty they offer - it's the only chance we have against paying ridiculously sky-high repair bills in the first years of ownership. Whewww!!! time to climb down off my soap box...

Hey guy I am kind of spoiled I have 130,000 miles on my 96 150. I bought the truck new from a dealer 100 miles away from me. I never had to go back for anything. I just put in u-joints and have done the regualr maintenance. This is my 4th Ford truck and none have ever went back to the dealer for anyhting.on any of them. Im probably due for some problems when I buy a new truck. Im a pretty strong Ford guy. You can see why. I hope my luck continues.

I wish I could say I've been as fortunate. My 98 Ranger (bought new) was a HUGE lemon!!! My wife's 93 Isuzu Rodeo (bought with 8k miles on it) was a HUGE lemon...

The best vehicle we've bought new is my 99 Taurus wagon...and it's been in the shop a few times.

Our 86 Tempo (bought new) was pretty good, but the "EXTRA HEAVY DUTY battery died within the first 2 years.

Our 92 Taurus sedan had to have a new engine assy. installed.

Maybe I should give the Toyotas or Hondas a try??? My luck, I'd get a lemon in one of those too!
