I just bought a 302 motor with transmission and am planning on putting the motor into my 1993 F-150. Does anyone forsee any problems with this idea? Any tips or advice would also be helpful. I think it is a early 90's t-bird.
yes you will need upper/lower 351 intake. the throttlebodies are the same. you will need a 351w distributor. you will also need a flexplate from an 80's crownvictoria that had the 351w/aod comb. because the 302 flexplate will have incorrect weight. also the 302 oil pan wont fit the 351w. i did this swap back on 03 its easy
sorry got your thread confused with about 10 others im worken on lol.
everything from your current 302 will bolt on. the tbird motor will have the wrong cam for your truck so you will need to get a new one. is your truck mass air?
It is a 93 f-150. I was told the only thing you need to do is swap the intake. Why would you need to change out the cam? Sounds like a lot more work than I thought.
hello, the motor cam out of a car. a cars power band is much higher in the rpm range. it wont help move a heavy rig like your truck. you want low end power. that motor probably wont start building power till 2000rpms or more. Cams are cheap with the motor out you should upgrade the cam it will save ya. how many miles are on the tbird motor?
Its only got 60,000 miles. I was also told that the firing order is different and the wires would need to be changed to work with the computer?? Is this true?
probably. its a car motor not a truck motor. so it could have a different firing order. is the motor an HO? this will make a difference. you should have skiped this motor and swaped in a 351w you would be alot happier in the end
