2001 f150 airbag module error code 33
Screwy,
Thanks for the quick response and info.
I have seen airbag simulator jumpers on the net for 29 bucks. I was wondering if anyone might know the resistor value of the airbags to test the srs circuits with the airbags uninstalled. Two resistors are a lot cheaper then buying two simulators/resistors at 29 bucks each.
Thanks
BTW Great board

I cant remember now what year it was, but several years back I had a bunch of F150 with code 33 from a backed out pin at the module harness connector.
I think the simulators are 1 OHM but not for sure. You really dont have to have them though if you are carefull and deactivate the system first. They can cut down on diagnostic time in certain conditions, but inspection of connections often will net near the same result. I dont think I have ever had to replace an airbag itself for an open circuit.

Homer Winzlow,
Thanks for the response!
I just bought this truck used. The guy had told me that someone had stole the original radio/cd player and the trim panel around the radio and he had to replace them.
Last night I tried to use the passenger side airbag key to turn off the airbag to see if that would clear up the code. The light didn't light when in the off position. I pulled the trim panel around radio off and the one on top of the dash. As I'm pulling the radio trim panel off I find that the bypass switch wiring harness isn't connected. On closer inspection of the trucks wiring harness, I find that it is a four pin connector and the airbag switch has two three prong connectors (grey and brown). Looking at the numbers on the switches wiring harness it appears to be from a 1997 truck. Is there anyway I can jump or eliminate these extra wires to convert this switch to work with the 2001 wiring or do I have to buy a new switch?
Brown Connector (female)
pink/w black stripe
black
light blue/w orange stripe
Grey Connector (male)
yellow/w green stripe
purple/w orange stripe
white/w blue stripe
If not I'll sell this one on ebay and buy a new switch
Thanks

Update:
I pulled the switch apart and reading acrossed the fusable resistor circuit, it reads about 2 ohms. I bet sticking a 2 ohm 1/2 watt resistor in the two prong connector at the airbag will act just like the simulators for 29 bucks. I ordered the factory workshop service manual for the vehicle which should have the pinouts for the module and switch. I have to get this truck through inspection and I don't think it will pass with the airbag light flashing a code or lit up solid.

I found that I had a couple codes in there. I tried the 1 ohm as you suggested for code 33 and it changed from being too high to too low. I next tried the 2 ohm 1/4 watt resistor and it cleared the code for the passenger side airbag.
Next came the passenger airbag deactivaton switch code. I had to buy a new switch All codes gone.
I have a bad passenger side airbag. It goes for $600 the resistor is like 5 cents.
