well Strokster I can agree with you some what on a sbc my frind has a '89 firebird and we just got finish building the engine and have basicly gone through the hole power trian of the car in the last year. the motor did make a n unexpected break but it had 140,000 miles on it so I was a little impressed. he seems to have more money than me to work on his project(alot of plastic) so while I am waitng to work on mine I get to work on his, guess it kinda keeps me going, but at the end of this month mine should be back running go a '66 ford F100 with a 390. ohh he ran a 13.10 on the old engine in a 1/4 should be alot faster now or it seems tobe so far will find out at the end of the month!! he is waiting till i get my old heep back together. Greg I should be out at little River drag track the first weekend in Nov. should be the 5th.
I'm pretty sure he is joking. Don't worry about it.

Actually, I wasn't joking. I just over reacted. Think about it: this is a Ford forum and you say as SBC beats a 427scj. What am I suppose to think. I've seen trolls in action before. Just trying to stir up things up. If that's not the case, I'm man enough to apologize.
I apologize to strokster and anyone else I may have offended.

Thank you. That was cool. Strokster is a friend of mine, and has owned at least one FE in the past, a Y block now, and the same Chevelle since we were 14. It was the first genuinely fast car I ever rode in, and as such had a significant effect on my desire to pursue high performance. When I tease him about his Chevy, he knows it is just good clean fun, and will undoubtedly respond in similar fashion. Personally, I am glad to have the benefit of his experience and knowlege in our little FE community, and welcome his input. It is our diversity, in all it's forms, that make our forum the entertaining and informative place that it is.
Well. I'm going to swallow soe pride to make this post. It's really quite embarassing.
I have to award Egoman the grand prize. A trip to beautiful Austin, Texas to beat me over the head with a rubber mallet.
Have you ever put off checking something because it seemed too simple or too obvious? Well, I did.
My first pass down te track tonight went at the typical blistering pace of about 80mph at 16.6 seconds. Another big dissapointment. I've been optimizing the timing most of this week, even removed the big old mirrors for this pass. So, I get back to the pit and decide that I'll finally check something I've had in the back of my mind for a while.....the throttle linkage. Is it really "floored"? it helps to have another person for this, so I go find some guys in the pits that look carb familiar. (I'm thinking...look for an old fat guy with a 9 second camaro....)
Sure enough....I'm using about 1/3 of the BG750 when my foot is on the floor :-( Seriously, I'm probably not even using all of the primaries, much less opening the secondaries...
I'm an idiot. Anyway, I'll be reworking the linkage and get back to the track soon.
on a good note, the project has been running pretty good around town. I even hauled a ton of dirt for a buddy...Literally, a ton with no issues. And we made the round trip to the track without any issues. Aside from gulping down a bunch of 93octane go juice.
LOL....cool man, now your back on track. I remember watching your burnout videa and thats what it looked like to me ive had the same problem Glad you got it worked out though Now i bet you'll be flyin down the track.
In the immortal words of Homer Simpson....Doooooh!!!!
Kudo's to you Greg for being truthful and EgoMan for a sharp ear. I just thought you were short shifting 1-2 so you were'nt getting the hides roasty toasty.
It runs like a spotted a** ape. I'm a bit terrified. Where it once layed down about 70mph....this SOB is just waking up. It's wicked scary. My borother-n-law helped me build a custom linakge. he rode with me and said this truck was probably faster than a hot-rodded Vette he recently rode in!
It's crazy fast. I've got some more tuning to do now. I guess I'll order a kit for the BG carb....
I think we just found 2-3 seconds...Now, I have traction problems....
Thats What im talkin about!!!!!! I knew your build would be wicked! Your setup should prove to be significantly faster than Ratsmokers........If hes getting mid 14's you'll at least get that if not better.

I knew you'd have to get use to it!!! and thats what I like hearing
(I have traction problems)
Greg thats why I couldnt figure out when you said you didnt get much wheel spin? Cause hell my mild 390 will roast em in low gear, and thats with 33" tall tires and the Richmond powerTrac....
But I am dam glad you got it Figured out....you should have enought torque now to roast em all threw first and a good part of second with the street tires..
Now your going to have too practice your pre-stage Burnouts to find out where they get the stickiest at.. I dont know what compound your running on you slicks? they may not even require a burnout? some dont..
I'm Happy for ya Man!!! Thats Freakin Great!!
Edit: We need to see a new BURNOUT tape Greg!!!

Lets go to the tape!!! I think we may have to take up a collection for a set of tires, but nothing beats the smell of burning rubber and race gas!!!
I wonder what the tallest drag radial or ET street is. I know there is a 4X4 Ford (twin turbos on a Cummins the traitor) running 10s with slicks on all 4 corners.
