It's me the other guy with the near identical problem. I've heard -via- rumor that the exhaust sensors have problems with heat and maybe soot and the other junk that comes from EGR. I also heard that Ford is tinkering with coming out with these that are coated with ???? (I forgot what metal) to reduce the effects of heat.
Is your engine light coming on at anytime, or is it during stop -n- go traffic when the engine is getting hot.
I deal with a sales person that has treated me extremely well…his belief you take a mans money you take his problems…wouldn’t that be nice if all the dealerships believed in that motto. Now I have known him 30+ years and my immediate family has bought over 40 vehicles all Fords. He is currently solving some serious issue with my 03
I know it hasa been mentioned several times on here before, but the best thing for you to do is to sit down and start documenting EVERYTHING!!!! I had, cough HAD cough, a lemon 6.0 , that now currently ford happily owns. This thing started out as a good truck then it developped the infamous SUGRE, oil leak at the bell housing, and many more issue's and after just at 60 days out of service i decided it was enough. I tried the dealership and what a joke.
I would suggest to anyone not to buy at RICART FORD in COULMBUS Oh. They ARE the BIGGEST Joke!!!!!
They would not assist me in anyway through my DSB and argued with me on my days out of service. But the DSB saw it my way and Ford had to buy my truck back...
So the best thing to due it to be firm, calm, & cool. Because you have sevral options... It all boils down to if you are tired of dealing with a 40,000.00 lemon, and i was. Good luck and keep us posted...
Okay - Still dealing with problems! I am to the point I am goign to the dealership to leave my truck in their hands and going to refuse to take it back.
After 3 more service visits of reroutung exhaust, new PCIM done I am still having problems with shifting, power, mileage, and now this last weekend the Idle (to the point where it sounds as if it is going to croak) and when I got an oil change done found there is a front seal transmission leak! YEAH!!!!!! So happy!!! NOT!
So after all these issues I am taking it to ford, the last service visit I had the Service Mgr said that this was there last chance to fix the problems...now new ones arise again!!!
SO my point to this post is I need to know exactly what I shoudl expect, my past attmepts to get them to initate a buy back always resorted to proper paperwork not completed - so NOW I have sent a letter to FORD in Deerborn, MI and to the dealsership stating that (way back in Nov) that it was going to be there last chance to fix it......Well they have had there last chances after 12 service visits last one in Dec..........Now the servie mgr and gen mgr are avoiding my phone calls....Nice!
Research the lemon laws in YOUR State and follow the guidelines...
Demand a call from the Ford area rep...
but first get ALL yout documentation ready to be presented....

NO i am from the great state of TN, and didnt go thur the dsb because my only major issue is fuel mileage, and there are no stated fuel mpgs on 250 or 350 which makes the fuel thing a hard case to win.FYI.
I had my dispute hearing October 13th with the Washington State Dispute board, in a 5 minute phone hearing a board rep from a ford dealer asked me one question I talked for 3 minutes regarding the current disaster that my truck, was, stalling at any speed, etc, etc. I received a letter 10 days later form the dispute board identifying that ford had to buy my truck back, pay off the remaining loan amount, rebate all $$$ spent on payments, and any add on we added.
Ford sent the check for our payments rebate to the dealer we bought the truck from. We dropped the truck off December 15th, it took Ford till January 20th to pay off the F350 truck loan.
I was awarded all payments rebated because we took the truck to the dealer for the first complaint with only 760 miles on the truck.
I will give the local ford dealer their dues they made me one hell of a deal, under invoice for a new F150 crew cab. Dont want to go anywhere near another 6.0 litre diesel for some time to come., great concept, too many kinks for the unfortunate ones like us.
Love the F150, has 9500 lbs towing capacity running 14 mpg in the city.
Hang tough MNFORD CHICK, it took me a year to get my truck resolved, you have to find more patience that you are willing to extend!
The sad part of all this...........it varies widely in different regions and different dealerships......I know I have one of the best in this region......and possibly the best in the country…..and they don’t even know I participate in FTE...they are working very diligently with me right now.
Tim- What dealer are you going through. I'm thinking about doing business with Don Chalmer's Ford. Any recommendations?
Thanks 04 F350 Fan - I am trying to find the patience it is so frustrating! We sat down with the service manager last night and talked about a plan of action, he was telling us that right now Ford is not willing to even help us trade out of it and certainly not buy it back. So We are trying to build a strong case by bringing it in again and haveing the EGR replaced again for the 3rd time and looking at the front seal tranmission leak that now has come into play. All I can do is be patient and wait for the problems to keep occuring to keep building up the fact that this particluar truck of mine is a bogus piece of metal. I do have some leverage in that my father owns a company and has about 40 company vechiles and they are all Ford's and with this particular dealership is where he buys them all...so that would have some impact as well.....and the fact that they don't want us to leave ford is nice. SO we will wait and see I am not sure what else to do at this point. One hard thing is that they dont think it has met the Lemon Law requirements for MN but it has - During this 5 month period of problems the dealership has moved in a new service mgr so it's almost as though I have had to re-explain and fight all over again......that has not helped me at all....

The way things seem to going for you there may be yet another service manager to break in before your issues get resolved.
BTW, IMO...If your Father's 40+ vehicles hasn't impressed them yet I don't imagine it will now or later. Too bad.
If I were you I could care less if they think you do not qualify for MN Lemon Law. Do the research...contact the state or whatever but not take the word of your dealer who may or may not be doing their best to look out after your best interests. Maybe like askin' the devil to preach the Sunday sermon...if you know what I mean?
From what I recall of your posts of a couple of months ago...these guys ain't the smartest monkeys in the zoo anyway.
Good luck...especially with that third EGR valve.<!-- / message -->
Just echoing KW5413 sentiments. Check into it, unless your state is completely behind the times, your truck should quallify several times over. I know in MT, I had less than a third of the issues as you and ford agreed to buy back because they knew I had a case. No hearing required. Do the research, file the paperwork, and let chips fall. PS, make sure you have paperwork complete and excellent documentation.
