OK - picked it up last night and couldn't even talk to the service manager or the gen. manager - both were already gone!! Imagine that when I told them I wanted to talk to them both about the truck...It does actually drive MUCH BETTER almost like a new truck - they replaced the back pressure exhaust sensor....WHAT A DIFFERENCE...but they are still not 100% sure that will solve the problems - SO we shall see cause my hubby os off to Wymoing this morning from MN - about 1500 mi round trip - well see if it runs good the entire time - if she doesn't it's a Lemon
Yep, Karl just called me and no the truck still.....is not running right, he got to rapid city and still he is having problems - not as bad but enough to warrant there is STILL A PROBLEM - still surges and cuts out............I called the service manager and he said the next step is to have an engineer come out and look at it - but this will have been its 5th attempt to fix it....AGH I dont know what to do next - Do I just demand them to take it back???
I have been having the same problem as you have posted. Surging at all RPM's, cutting off occasionally, and rough idle. Most of the time the problem shows itself after the truck is good and warm. I just picked up my truck for the fourth time myself. I look at the problem a little differently than most. I love my truck and the dealer and tech are busting their butt trying to fix the problem. They started with the wiring harness. Next, they checked the wiring harness again. Third time they sent it home because they had to order a VGT valve. Today, the tech replaced the VGT valve and I cannot get the truck to surge or cut out. Give the tech a chance if you feel he is actually working to resolve the problem. The VGT valve, wiring harness and EBP sensor are the most common problems from what I have read from the fine FTE folks. The 6.0 is a fine engine . It is also VERY complicated, like many of today's engines.
I love my truck as well - but not that much to deal with these problems after a month straight and them telling me - Yes we have fixed it this time.....I am not sure what to do next...This has been the first NEW truck I have bought and it has been nothing but problems from day 1 - (our first truck was delivered to us with a nice dent on the box - they had to bring it to a body shop and have it pressed out and re-painted - I would not accpet that, and oh ya that was a fight - but I got what I wanted - after all I was buying a NEW truck not a new one re-painted )So then the truck we have now is just weraing thin - I haul horses jsut about every weekend so it has really inconveineced me......AGH I just want it to be over this night mare of a dream that I paid $41,000 for.

Best of luck with your ride.
Technically speaking our beloved 6-oh! computers and systems, are "THE" again I say "THE", "Most advanced electrical and computer system sold to the public." So if it was me. I would work with them some more. There are as above mentioned 3 main things that seem to be causing this. So if you feel they really are trying to help then just just give them some time to work on.
Best of Luck,
Corey
P.S. We are here to help, so let us know what all has been done and a detailed description of the problem, who knows, maybe we can think of something that they haven't yet..

MNFORDCHICK -
You are in control of your own future!!
Do not let the service manager push you around.
I you meet the requirements for your states lemon law, and you feel you will never be happy or have confidence with this truck........then follow the advice of the others before me and "TELL THEM WHAT THE NEXT STEP IS"!
You may be a woman, but you are also an FTE member, and that means you are well informed and not alone!!
Thank you AV3Fire - I will take that advice and tell them what I want - My husband will be back next week and we were planning on bringing it back Thursday - SO I will tell them to have another truck ready for me
I had some major problems with my previous truck. It was a 2002 F-150 supercrew with the 5.4L auto 4x4. I pull a 5400 lb travel trailer which is well below it's towing capacity. The dealer where I bought it replaced the trans. twice, the torque converter twice and rebuilt it once. When I had problems again, I took it to a Commercial Truck Shop at the dealer where I take all of the big trucks from the company where I work. They rebuilt the trans. and told me to call Ford's DSB. I did just that and they replied that my issue was "not in their jurisdiction". That's pretty frustrating, numerous trans. problems not their line of work???? Anyhow, I had bought a 2001 Explorer for my wife, then the 02 F-150, then my wife wanted a car so we bought a new 2003 Focus. We bought the first 2 at different dealers, but got the Focus at the Commercial dealer. They are a regular Ford dealer, but have a Commercial Heavy Truck Shop in the back, so I know the Service Manager and the Commercial Manager well. I went to them about the problems I had. They arranged a meeting with the entire management team to include the owner and agreed to buy my truck back for what I owed on it. I did not have to sue them, or enact the lemon law, or get FMC involved. I traded my old truck in, they paid the note in full (about 9000 upside down according to Kelly Blue Book), then I bought my 2004 F-250, they took 5000 off the price then I took advantage of ALL of the incentives and lower rates. MSRP of 45,100. I paid right at 40,000. What I am trying to tell you is remain patient. I am not a patient person, but I found that if I just sat down with the people who can actually help and talked to them sensibly that they are usually willing to help you. Good luck, and go talk to the entire management team ASAP,,, Mat
Yet another 6.0 PSD w/problems... BUT a happy ending
MNFORDCHICK:
I am hearing the same thing happening to you as has been happening to me since the 4th of July weekend. It has been in the shop 6 times now... I had the surging, the sputtering, the rough shifts, etc., etc., etc.
Here's what we did in attempts to fix it:
Visit #1: Re-Flashed the computer RESULT: Began surging again in less than 100 miles.
Visit #2: Same Thing, but this re-flash had the cruise control repair RESULT: Same as result from Visit #1.
Visit #3: Replaced the VGT (Variable Geometry Turbo) Solenoid. RESULT: Nope, didn't do it... Wrote letter to Ford about possible Lemon Law proceedings if no fix was found in 60 days.
Visit #4: Reflash with another programming update RESULT: This is not funny anymore. I have named the "ghost" I have in my rig as "Chistine".
Visit #5: Replaced EBP (Exhaust Back Pressure) sensor. RESULT: NADA. Wrote letter to Service Manager and set deadline to get the mysterious "Experimental Fix" within 2 weeks or I am cutting off my cooperative efforts..
Visit #6: Replaced the MAP (Manifold Air Pressure) Sensor with an "Experimental" one direct from the Factory.... RESULT: ...Guess what?! BABY'S BACK & SHE'S FEELIN' FINE!!
400 miles (so far) of pure bliss. I get the feeling that this is it (and if this is not it, it will be it, if you know what I mean).
Anyway, if you stick with the truck and get the fix (only the really squeaky wheels such as myself will get this part) and you'll have the truck that your $41k MEANT to buy. I promise.

This is great news and maybe good for some others too....
Okay - I was wrong.....she's back in the shop.....This time they are going to decide how hard they are going to make it for me to get the truck replaced......He (service mgr) said that it is now up to the area engineer to try and come up with a solution and that will determine what the next step will be......I AM SICK OF THIS....AND I am sure you all are sick of hearing about it as well - I know my family is!
