I have just about completed the removal of the rear end. I have a couple questions, here goes.
1) When removing rear end some of the copper washers got mangled, where can I get some new ones?
2) I am still trying to remove the rear end and I am having problems, all of the bolts are removed and the axles are pulled. How much force or how can I pry the rear end off? Can I pry it off with something?
You sent me an email about the T18 but I'm unable to email back to you (may want to check your forum preferences), this is the only way to get back in touch with you. I have listed the tranny in an online auction right now, but I don't have a way to crate/ship it right now so response has been slim to none. Sorry about the disruption here! Shoot me another message w/your email addy if you want to get in touch with you directly.
The 3rd member is one of my problems, I am wondering how much and what kind of force is required to remove. Also when removing the washers (copper) I mangled some, where can I get some more and why do I need to use copper washers? What is wrong with using regular flat washers and lock washers and just gooping the threads up with gasket stuff?
The copper washer act as a seal, and they can be bought at your local Napa, as for the 3rd member, you can use a prybar and give it quite a bit of force, but just try not to hammer on the housing itself.
