Hey this is my first post, but i am a strong fan of fords of this year, and have a yard full to prove it!
My question comes with a newly attained 1979 ford bronco that came with a seized 400CI. I would like to replace that with a 351 windsor, but need to find engine perches to match the frame. I am not sure whether small blocks came in these years of 4x4s so i am a little skeptical on looking too hard. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
See i know it would be "easier" to put a 400ci back in. But so far in my experience with 400ci's i have broke a crank in half and taken out a connecting rod bearing, they are not my favorite engine. Now i have a strong running 351W i would like to put in. I will make perches if i have to, but would prefer to just find some. Which returns to the question on whether a 73-79 ford 4x4 came with a small block in it?
Not sure if this will help or not but I do know they came with the 300, which shares a lot with the small block V8's. The bell housing is the same and when going from a 400 to a 300 in my Bronco I had to scrounge different perches. So if the perches for a small block are the same as a 300 you should be able to find a set.
