just wanted to tell you about the intake i made i used a 3 inch 60 degree elbow from autozone (think i will swap it out for a 90) and some really thick pvc pipe with a 90 degree bend and a cone filter i cut a hole for the fitting on the inside of the elbow and some adapters and some adjusting the position of the pipes and complete removal of the soup bowl it sounds and runs soooooo much better.ill try to post some pictures tomorrow so maybe you guys looking to make one have something to go off of.
I cut that trunk in two right above the PS pump, and good thing I did cause I've since forded such MI great lakes (read majorly flooded 8 Mile near where that Eminem dude was hanging out) that with the trunk intact I'd have sucked water in and hydrolocked big time! I'm gonna go cut speed holes in the hood soon, then cover them with a cowl induction scoop, figured it'll either bring cool air in or pull warm air out the engine bay, both of which are good things.
That's what I want to do. I'm thinking of figuring out a way to move the air-inteke over to the passenger side and do some kind of a "snorkel". Then I'll be more like Snufflelupagus than an elephant!
Seriously though, it would bring in a higher volume of cool air and I could get the "blind spot" over on the passenger side where it covers less of my field of view. Plus there's a natural empty space over there where I could go through the fender. I need to look through the ARB catalog/web site and see if they have anything I can adapt. I don't want to have PVC pipe on the OUTSIDE of my truck, under the hood's OK though.
A mild, reversed hood scoop would be a lot easier and accomplish basically the same thing though. I can't imagine I'm going to go through THAT deep of water, ever.
havent posted pics before i hope it works.anyway its a work in progress but i got the clearance issue resolved now all i got left is to route some pipe to get better air. if they dont load they are in my pictures
Darn, at that point I'd be definitely looking into cutting the hood and fabbing up a box so the filter draws only through that hole, then cover it all with a cowl induction scoop - as long as your box ain't too far back and you seal your scoop good water from rain or melting snow will never leak into it and hydrolock your engine.
